This was a choice for a nice Valentine 's Day dinner. To start, I checked the Open Table menu for this place and it had a good selection of entree choices. Now I chose this restaurant from Open Tables Valentine restaurant list. The price list shows $30 for an entree on the app. I was a bit shocked to find out when I arrived that the restaurant had a fixed menu selection for VD at $75 per person. No mention of a fixed menu when I made my reservation. This included a starter choice, one entree and a desert. We were seated right away and our waiter took our order promptly. We ordered our meal and two cocktails. Our starter/appetizer arrived, was eaten and gone before we ever got our cocktails....
We did not know that the menu was set for Valentine's Day. We would have preferred to order from the regular menu. Our table was not ready at our reservation time so we sat in the bar which was actually a very nice atmosphere. The restaurant food was very good but the service was very s-l-o-w. I do not like to be rushed but the timeliness of our food was not acceptable considering that the menu was limited and the crowd size. In fact, they required a credit card to hold our reservation, which I do not like at all. So they should have been equipped for a busy night. We finally asked to take our dessert to go since we got so tired of waiting to be served. The waiter was ok but they were short...
My favorite affordable steakhouse in Orange County is The Vintage. It's located right by the San Juan Capistrano Train Station, where you can nearly reach out and touch the trains as they arrive and depart from the large picture window. I absolutely love their amazing filet mignons, which are always cooked to perfection, especially when paired with their Wild Mushroom Bordelaise Sauce. I'm also quite fond of their Creamed Corn. The Bone-in Filet is a standout option when it's on the menu. The service is consistently excellent and comes with a smile.
We dined at this restaurant and had an enjoyable experience. It was fascinating to watch the trains pass by on the track next to the dining car, which is housed in an old train. The service was exceptional, and the food was very tasty. Both of our desserts were outstanding. Being a Friday night, our meal took a bit longer than usual, but we weren’t in a hurry, so it was perfectly fine. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will likely return, even though it's an hour's drive (in light traffic).

The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Both desserts were outstanding. Since it was a Friday night, our meal did take a while to arrive, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was perfectly fine. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will likely return, even though it's an hour's drive (especially in traffic).
We have dined here many times over recent years, frequently purchasing Groupon four-course meals. Their whole menu has terrific options and even their limited Groupon menu provides nice choices. I would recommend staying with the meat options as the only bad meal we have had was less than fresh fish on a Thursday evening. Train car seating is terrific fun, and I would recommend the Vintage to anyone who enjoys a well prepared upscale meal.
The Vintage was once fabulous, but unfortunately, it seems to have lost its focus in the kitchen. The boiled meats were improperly prepared, and the cuts of meat were of poor quality. It used to share some similarities with Gemmell's in Dana Point, which continues to excel in its offerings.

Service was slow and disappointing. Dirty silverware with food still on it brought to the table. Took at least 15 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered as well.
Food was mediocre. Service not good. Not worth the cost. Not going backk.
