The Waring House Pub and Restaurant

First of all, this is not a vintage style inn… you will be put into outbuildings. We stayed here to enjoy the “Countylicious” dinner offerings. When we arrived we went to reception which was in another outbuilding, and were told that they had to move our dinner to 8:30 because they had a large party booked at the same time that we were supposed to be seated. When we protested, they said we could eat in bar BUT we should be there for 5:30 because there was live music and it was popular with “the locals” and they were short staffed. We ordered stuffed chicken breast and seafood linguini (which was mistakenly served as seafood penne), and both dishes were average. The chicken was a bit dry, but the risotto and steamed vegetables were decent. The penne was also satisfactory, neither exceptional nor disappointing. The service was good, and our meals were served promptly and were warm. The crème brûlée dessert was delicious, although the espresso was served in a coffee cup which was a bit odd. The live band playing at the pub seemed to be quite loud and could be heard in the restaurant. The decor in the restaurant felt dated and worn, with floral drapes reminiscent of the 1990s or 80s. There was no air conditioning. They refused to issue a refund for the second night of our stay. The staff was rude and seemed uninterested in their job. It is evident that this restaurant has faced challenges and is relying on its reputation from the past.

The Waring House and their Barley Room are a dependable choice for those looking for gluten-free options in Prince Edward County. We decided to have our wedding here and they offered a fully catered menu that met all of our gluten-free requirements.

The food at this restaurant was incredible, everything we tried was delicious. We also visited on a night when there was live music in the Barley Room Pub, which was fantastic. The staff were very friendly as well. Overall, we had a wonderful time.
