I met a friend for Afternoon Tea at The Barns Hotel and we spent a very pleasant two hours at our table overlooking the terrace and river The food was lovely except that we could have done with some butter for our French bread, so that the potted meat actually stayed on the bread instead of slipping off We did have to call over the waiter a few times for clean plates and more tea but that was easily done, as it was so quiet There was too much for us to eat and so we were provided with lovely little doggies bags to take the left overs home. Our respective husbands enjoyed their little treat when we got home We will meet there again as it was a lovely treat and we really enjoyed the sandwiches...
The savoury part was nice, the sandwiches were ok, nothing special though. Scones were nice, clotted cream had no flavour. The lemon possett was nice. The cakes were not nice at all. Only a selection of two. Large bits of cake. Ginger loaf was dry and the chocolate marbled brownie was sloppy. At one point we waited minutes to get someone's attention to get a coffee. I have been twice before, so was very disappointed. was for my mums birthday
A member of our group ordered the £25 steak, but was very disappointed with the quality. The steak was tough, fatty, and difficult to cut and chew. Unfortunately, he left the restaurant still feeling hungry. We complained and were only given a free cup of coffee, which felt like a small gesture considering our bill was over £150. We don't plan on returning to this restaurant anytime soon.
Booked an afternoon tea during lunchtime for our first meal at the venue. One of the guests was vegetarian and nut free, the only reason we didn't score our experience as outstanding is because a meat option had been included on the vegetarian guests service Staff were very helpful and accommodating and the afternoon was very nice, we plan to come back with more guests next year!

The restaurant has a good location, however, the food was disappointing, bland, and poorly cooked. The service was just okay, nothing special. Overall, it was a bad experience and not worth the price. I'm confused as to how it received such a high rating on this app.
All staff made us feel very welcome. Christmas decorations added to the warm ambience. Good choice of dishes on the menu which were cooked and presented very well.
Great food, great ambience, good service. Only real negative was the speed of service, as we had children with us and they were slow to take our order.
The roast chicken was tough to chew. The rhubarb ice cream appeared to have been thawed and refrozen. The carrots were too hard to eat.
