We booked for special birthday treat, upon enetring were seated quicly and friendly, very happy. From there it went downhill, my starter was fine but my partners of baked eggs , wild mushrooms and spinach was awful, it smelt of fish and it was totally...bland, we asked for salt and pepper to try to add flavour but it didnt help, she left over half. My friends and I visited the yard for a special trip to Chester. I had booked based on recommendation and was so excited to find an available table. I would like to start by saying that Sam our waitress was incredible and couldn’t do enough...for us. The food however was not to the standard I would expect for the price paid. Myself and one friend ordered the Crispy Pork Belly, it was not at all crispy and was in fact rather cold when it arrived at the table. We sent these back and we’re told fresh ones would be made, only to be presented with the same plates of food and they were the same temperature. we have booked the yard a few months in advance for the graduation party of our sohne. we met friends in chester to celebrate a cozy lunch. a week before the restaurant email to cancel the booking, but if I called to explain the circumstances they could. what they did was especially open to us and we had an amazing private culinary experience that made the day special. the food was excellent - everyone on the party enjoyed their choices thoroughly and my highlight was the claremont spade with crispy eggs and garlic mayonnaise (although I felt mild food jealous when I saw that the nap pot arrives for one of the party.) the service was exemplary and we appreciate (and used) the interesting wei...

it is over 12 months ago, since we last visited the yard, but is pleased that the chef carl noller is still there: top cooking kitchen for cheap food and wine. I enjoyed the buffalo mozzarella and beetroot starter, followed by prawn and scallop risotto...and some enjoyed the baked egg and truffle starter followed by lightly sangiovese and beautiful, sharp pinot grigio wein. great service from the friendly waitress.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, relatively small but intimate. 10/10 would eat again. Service was fab both servers were attentive and pace was just right starters were good but the mains were unreal! We had the belly pork and the tiger prawn linguine both absolutely...delicious. I thought very good value for quality of food and service. Thankyou!
Fantastic meal at the Yard. Our first time here staff made us feel really welcome and gave us a lovely table. Shared the egg/black pudding starter delightful, followed by beef rib and tiger prawn linguine (both gorgeous). Staff were really attentive noticing when...we were running low on drinks. Excellent value 10/10 we will definitely return!
Great restaurant, very attentive staff, the food was to die for, had a such a lovely evening with friends I had any seen for a long time and it was an absolute treat to be looked after so well. Very well done.
