Tomato-cabbage based hearty soup served with a slab of fresh bread and a hunk of cheese. They don't skimp on portions or quality! Taste was outstanding!! This is a highway diner type place but don't be put off, the quality is head and shoulders above what you're expecting. They sell Russian/Doukhobor specialties as well as frozen main dishes (non Russian) to take home if you want. Borscht is sold in jars to take home if you wish or have some fresh from the stove. Sweet treats also available and huge, made to order sandwiches. Coffee, tea and cold drinks available. Place is run by 2 sisters and a sister in law. Well worth a visit!!

We stopped at this cute little mountain chalet-style business to see what was in stock in the way of prepared Russian food. I did not see any that made my mouth water. But, they had quart & pint sealers of buckwheat honey & other local honeys. I could not resist buying a jar of buckwheat honey. i have tasted it since I came home & can testify that it is delicious. My husband ordered a coffee which was excellent in quality. This is a good place to stop & stretch your legs, have a coffee, & possibly lunch.

We came here specifically for the Borscht. This is not Russian Beet Borscht, this is Russian Doukhobor Borscht, which is completely different and deliciously hearty. (not a beet in sight). The borscht is served with a big hunk of homemade bread and thick slice of cheese. Delicious! They have some Doukhobor handmade items and cookbooks for sale and the other foods looked great, too. I love this little gem! Always a smile served from this family run place with the delicious made to order sandwiches, soups and pizza, and oh the borsht is to die for! There is so much going on in this little place like the home made take and bake dinners from lasagna to shepards pie, and dont forget about all the beautiful desserts, if you haven't stopped you need too!!
