We stopped at Thrums chips shop, Kirriemuir, after a lovely walk up loch brandy, 5 adults and 3 children. After waiting 30 minutes on our food, it was old, the chips and batter was totally burnt. My little boy was nearly sick as the sausage was smelling off and extremely cheap looking meat. We couldn’t eat it. Dry and tasteless. But what makes it worse, the owner, who served us, was rude and dirty. When I went back to the shop with our food to tell him we couldn’t possibly eat it, he told me to ‘get out’, no money back and no fresh food. I was totally shocked and upset that this man is getting away with speaking to customers like this and selling old burnt food! He probably gets away with it...
Ordered a takeaway from here asked for it to be extra hot as previously ordered a pizza and received it cold,we've also received paper in food aswell in previous orders. should have learnt then not to order again but never again now. Anyhow, when our order came this time round the chicken pakora was like it had been sitting out for days and just chucked in a microwave to reheat!. Absolutely disgusting. The batter was like rubber you could not even pull apart with your fingers. My partner had a haddock in batter and again batter was absolutely disgusting
We have used Thrums Takeaway on a number of occasions as they offer a delivery service. I always have Fish and my son Red Pudding! Approximately 20 mins after placing your order the food is delivered to the door by a very nice, friendly lady. It arrives beautifully cooked and still hot, served in cardboard boxes. Both the fish and red pudding are really nice, hot with crispy batter and the chips also still hot, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
Got chips from here once and they were pretty average. Decided to get from here after my usual takeaway was closed. Bought a few things. The delivery was around 2hrs after the order placed.The tracker page doesn't update. Batter on the onion rings was disgusting. All the food was cold. Ended up throwing it up after 20 mins of trying to digest it. I Have actually never written a bad review but this was just something else.

Asked for Chicken Kebab salad separate they put the salad on the kebab and it was hot, don’t think I will be ordering again because not the first time that it had not been nice, haddock supper was not cooked right it was raw inside such a shame
For my sins I returned after a 3 year break from this place...BIG mistake.. delivery time said 40 minutes..2hrs 5mins later..it finally arrived...not the delivery drivers fault..but if you want to advertise a business.. number 1 is honesty.
Really poor service and the food was cold when it was delivered, this had happened a few times, I won’t be back : never tastes fresh also tastes stale and old
This is a wee gem. Whether normal chippy style food or pizzas and kebabs....all quality service. Always happy to give you what you need collect or delivered.

Always enjoy the black pudding supper from here. Cooked to order staff always helpful. Food well wrapped so still hot when arrive home.
