Timgad - Reservar una mesa

Not an expert for North African cuisine, we believe,however, that Timgad serves excellent couscous with chicken, skewered lamb, and sausage Merquez . Their souris d'agneau. lamb shank is also recommended but customers will have to request this dish in advanced...probably takes longer to simmer....The couscous dishes are quite a large portion for us ... Lots of couscous and the vegetable soup sauce to pour over the couscous. The chicken is usually a thigh not sure if you can order white meat i.e. breast . This restaurant was actually mentioned to us by another top Aigues restaurant Le Particular on the same street so ...local advice and all that, gave it a try and how pleased we were with this choice. The owners are very attentive but not in your...face, the man is such a friendly smiling chap you would find it difficult not to feel welcome. The chefs are Moroccan/Algerian and the chicken tagine was beautiful, slow cooked quality chicken with just the right lemon/olive flavours. Lamb kebab tender along with couscous light and fluffy. Very nice interior and small garden to the rear for warmer evenings. Might go again tonight if we can get in!

Returned to try others menu items. Ordered lamb couscous and lamb skewers. There was enough couscous for 3 people and a bowl of vegetables delivered, plus the lamb shank. Beautifully cooked, the meat fell off the bone. Vegetables were delicious. You need to be very...hungry or have a large appetite to completely finish a couscous based meal. Deserts eaten were honey pancakes and mint chocolate ice cream with creme de menthe. A coffee and an apple liqueur ended the meal, really well. Unfortunately, we will now have to wait until our next holiday before we can eat hear again.

Looking for somewhere with atmosphere and tasty food and came across Timgad. Had an outside table for 4 and a very tasty main course and desert. Booked again for Father's Day on following Sunday. Staff made us feel almost as if we were family with...a lovely welcome and great service. Tried a different selection of food and just as good as first visit. Would recommend for anyone to try this place. Looking forward to coming again in August.
