2022 Update: still love it. Really well designed, airy room, great food and presentation. My children were cheated, they had no more their old favorites, but still enjoyed the food. I loved the pig belly and tofu. Will be back to try other new items on the menu. So cozy and authentic. This was my second visit, and I was immediately transported back at that time I went to Tokyo and had sushi in a small place like Toraya. That taste! You know what I mean if you love real Japanese food. I didn't hear many Japanese talking around me in Boston. There were three separate parties from Japanese people who spoke in Japanese. The waitress spoke Japanese. The Sushi Cook - I'm pretty sure he's Japanese...
The food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Just be prepared for a wait, as it’s a cozy spot. The sushi is authentically Japanese, featuring thin slices of fish or seafood served atop small bites of high-quality rice. The small plates were also delightful and beautifully presented. I can't wait to return!
The sushi here is delicious and reasonably priced. The interior is small with limited tables, which are a bit closely spaced, but it’s clean and inviting. It would have been nice to have some soft music playing to help mask the noise from neighboring tables.

Toraya has returned! The new space is much more open, offering a refreshing change, but the quality remains exceptional. This place serves some of the best Japanese and sushi cuisine in the area.
The seating is quite limited and feels a bit cramped, even though the restaurant itself has ample space. On Thursday night, I noticed that the first row of seats was occupied.
Sushi Kappo Toraya, previously known as Toraya, closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and then again at its new location on December 31, 2021, at 795 Massachusetts Ave.
Delicious food and wonderful Sake! The new space is bigger and can accommodate more people. Highly recommend!
