I decided to go to this place after a friend recommended it to me. Upon recommendation she did have a little giggle about the place which really seems to have stepped straight out of the 60's. But never mind the decor, because the food was delicious. I ordered a special fried rice and it was just what I was craving. It reminded me of the Chinese food I used to eat as a kid and the prices are just as old school. $6.40 for a special fried rice! How can you go wrong?The service was also with a smile from an older Asian women in a baseball cap! Quite an experience, I will definitely be returning!
This restaurant always takes me back to 1950's. The decor is in amazing shape. Formica yellow tables, and matching yellow chairs. Probably worth a small fortune. The food is good and honest. Nothing fancy, just traditional chinese food as was served when i was a child. They make a good black bean sauce. I feel like i should be bringing saucepans to take my food home, like we did when i was young.This place is a blast from the past, with prices from the past to match
Having been a regular customer of the Toy Yeon Cafe for around 25 years, we still take pleasure in dining here for our Asian food fix.Mrs Tay and family are the chefs, and the food, like the decor, is unpretentious - but tasty and satisfying!The restaurant seems not to have changed since the 50's and 60's - but that's it's charm. It's like going home to Mum's for a meal.Yes, the decor may be out of date, but then, so are the prices!
Where does one begin! The old lady is really nice but the food is terrible I suspect my thumping headache is due to the extremely high MSG levels in the food the nice old lady should retire and cash in her property which would be worth a mint don't buy food here you WILL regret it

what a landfill! the outside of the building says everything, it looks more like a wash salon. the takeaway only food is identical to the müll that one would find in a shopping center. they give him a miss, as there are much better places.
Stopped for takeaway food after driving past on many occasions- wished we hadn't bothered, food was awful - too salty and very basic don't waste your money
This is one to be avoided at ALL cost. It looks like something from last century and the food is terrible.
cooked by an older Chinese woman as close as authentic they will get. the sweet n sour pork is delicious
