I found Tyber Bierhaus while randomly looking for “ethnic” restaurants on OpenTable. We are over in Bethesda from time to time – so I thought this looked like my kind of place – you know good beer and good food, in that order. Wow, this place is awesome! I took my wife out to lunch on a weekday, because you can tell a lot about a restaurant by how they take care of their daytime patrons on a limited wait/kitchen staff. My wife had the off-menu lunch special, three cheese grilled cheese sandwich with a side of tomato bisque soup. She loved it, the bread was rustic and the cheeses were melted, gooey, and perfect. The soup was absolutely yummy. I had the Pastrami Sandwich w/fries: seared slices...

We decided to give Tyber Bierhaus a try because we had errands in Bethesda and are fans of St. Arnolds in Cleveland Park. We visited on a Saturday night and the place was about 2/3 empty, making it a bit quiet. The large communal tables and benches gave it a beer garden atmosphere, but everything seemed built for very tall people - the table was too far from me when sitting on the bench. Our server was friendly and we both ordered mussels, one with St. Arnolds and the other with Thai Curry. Both dishes came with fries and a few pieces of bread, but we had to ask for more bread to soak up the broth. Overall, the experience was okay but lacked excitement. We feel that the main issue might be t...

On the plus side, my wife 's mussels were good, and she enjoyed her mixed drink. My experience wasn 't as good: forgettable sausages and a dissatisfying beer experience. I ordered the Monk 's sour, which is a favorite and fairly moderate in cost compared to other Belgian options. For $11 for 0.3 liters, I got a small glass which later proved to be marked for 0.25 liters . I just felt ripped off, and mentioned to the server who said he 'd mention it to the manager in a few days. Never have I met a less empowered person! So, it 's a nice little hole in the wall in the heart of Bethesda where everything else is crowded, noisy, and overdone but I 's probably not got back for dinner, and I 'd lik...

I am visited by wisconsin bethesda for medical witnesses at the nih. with Czech and German ancestors and a live of warm comfort life I had to go after tyber. it is very close to the subway, big bonus. the goulash was amazing. the personal was great. I've been locked up in a sick house for a week and wanted to sit outside. oh no. thunder and rain. no problem. they were willing to put me in the house, but I loved the experience outside under the great umbrella sitting in the thunderstorm. will come back when I am back in the opposite! This restaurant is fantastic! Instead of the usual American craft beers, they offer a extensive variety of German, Belgian, and other European beers. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a welcoming German Beer Hall, with delicious food, outstanding service (with prompt and knowledgeable staff), and great beer selections. I had been wanting to visit for a while and now regret waiting so long. I definitely plan on returning.

Great location across from Bethesda Metro. Needless to say a terrific selection of beers as well as great pretzels and sausage. Happy Hour has some nice specials. Establishment was quiet on this visit yet I would chalk it up to a December weeknight. I'm sure the place is vibrant on weekends as well as during warmer months or special occasions.

When I entered the restaurant, I was taken aback by the picnic tables and benches bolted to the floor - not the most comfortable seating. However, I was pleased with the wide variety of beers available. The food was decent, although my sausage was a bit dry.

Slow service, some beer took more than twenty min to arrive, other beer never arrived to our table at all. No organization whatsoever and bartenders were not experienced enough to handle how busy it was on a Friday. Reserva una mesa ahora

Food was good. I think the cook was watching too much football and left things in the fryer a little too long. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and am happy to find a German restaurant that is close.
