U Caffe di A Mossa

We are staying in Calvi and took a little trip out for lunch. Lumio is a lovely sleepy place and we stumbled across this road side restaurant by chance. Our French is not great, but we try, to be fair my husband tries more than me! The waitress and owner/manager were very patient and we ordered 2 salads and a carafe of white wine. My salad was a mixture of ham, cheese, tomatoes, chestnuts and lettuce (Corsica salad), my husband's salad was ham, pasta, tomato and lettuce (Lumio salad). Both were massive portions and delicious. So much so that another couple looked at our salads and immediately ordered the same. With lovely views of Calvi, good service and great food we will return during our holiday!

My husband and I had lunch there yesterday as we were amazed by the fantastic view on the sea. We ordered brocciu ravioli with corsican tomato sauce: the tomato sauce seemed directly out of a can, no spices, no herbs. Not sure about the pasta itself. My husband who is a pasta amateur said it could well have been meat raviolis instead of cheese, as it did not taste of much. The dish arrived with a home made flag. Not too sure of what was homemade here. I had a chicken burger. Rather dry and sad. Made with supermarket burger bread and a slice of toastie cheese. Nice for a drink, but I would avoid for food.

Looking at some of the negative reviews, I can only conclude they must have visited some parallel world. Our food was outstanding fit for foodies. Try the goat cheese risotto! The servers were polite, helpful and fun to communicate with even though our knowledge of French was rudimentary and of Corsican, nil. And, of course, the panoramic view only serves to enhance the meal.

Authentique restaurant qui mérite le détour avec sa vue imprenable sur Calvi et ses alentours. Des plats excellents et copieux avec des produits du terroir et un accueil très chaleureux. Excellent moment passé en famille.
