Umami Sushi Surrey

The pricing is among the most reasonable in Surrey and Cloverdale. Many places in Sullivan charge way too much! I used to work at Tokyo Joe's on Broadway, where our prices were significantly better than most places we visit. However, the prices at Umami are fair and appropriate for their location. The restaurant itself is very inviting and clean, adorned with lovely Japanese décor. The food quality is outstanding—no stale, discolored salmon here! Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and like many Japanese restaurants, the sushi bar is open for all to see. We’ve never had to complain about incorrect orders or poor flavors. During my visit to the Cloverdale Crossing area in October, I made a stop at this restaurant for lunch. If I had known that places like Umami Sushi existed in Cloverdale, I would have spent more time here. I ordered the Wild Salmon Sashimi ($13.50), which came with eight pieces. It was served at the ideal temperature, and the fish had a wonderful firmness that is often lacking in farmed varieties. I was also impressed by its vibrant red color and the clean finish.

I've dined at this restaurant numerous times and have always appreciated the food. It's consistently clean, the service is friendly (especially since I know the owner, haha), and the food is always delicious. I usually go for the tempura udon with agedashi tofu, some cones, or an unagi roll. It's been three years since my last visit, but I'm eager to return and see if there are any new items on the menu.

We absolutely love Umami! We usually dine in at the Langley location, but this one is more convenient for pick-ups since it's closer to home. We're always satisfied with the food—it's so delicious! The sushi at this restaurant is amazing! It's tasty, budget-friendly, and the service is top-notch. The vibe is relaxed, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it. It may be a little hard to find, but it's definitely worth the effort. The only downside is that the small size of the restaurant leads to limited seating.

We visited the restaurant after reading a review that mentioned vegan options. Unfortunately, the only choices available were basic vegetable rolls. The teriyaki sauce contains chicken, which eliminated all hot dishes for us. The rolls felt a bit overpriced and were just mediocre.

Delicious food, incredibly friendly staff, and fantastic sushi! The portions were generous. We ordered Dinner Box A, which was easily enough for two people, and we left feeling full. We also tried a Mexican roll, and it was excellent. We'll definitely be returning!
