I used to rate this restaurant 4 to 5 star, but this time I have to give 2 stars. The spider roll was a bit strange in taste, but that is how sometimes the crabs are. The real problem was the two salmon avocado rolls. They had an unusual taste, after two pieces I dissected the rest of the roll, to find out that the skin of the salmon was not peeled off completely. The white layer was there, and giving that fishy taste I do not like. I am not a sushi chef to say if the salmon can be cut not peeling the white layer, if it is normal or not what I am saying is that it was the first time in years that this happened to me, and I did not like it. Our family came to NYC for an overnight visit and enjoyed a delicious dinner at Umi Sushi. Everything we ordered, from soup to sushi, was fresh and full of flavor. Our family prefers a traditional sushi restaurant where the emphasis is on the food and UMI Sushi was just right for us. Two days later we were still talking about the Panda roll highly recommend it! I was, particularly, surprised with the reasonable prices; they made a great meal even better! We'll definitely be back on our next visit to NYC.
Good quality, small part and not cheap. We ordered a take from five different dishes: roasted chicken and four rolls. The fried chicken was good, but the sauce was the generic Thai style sweet and sour. A Japanese style sauce would be better. The rolls were quite small in size (not enough rice or meat, like what you see in Japanese Deli) and the sea tang packing could be thicker. Everything was fresh and delicious. Only no five-star experience when you look at everything.
My daughter and I ate here before going to the Papermill Playhouse. It's very conveniently located. It's only a short walk from the playhouse. The food was good and they had some interesting choices on the menu. It appears as though they are in the process of doing some renovations. At least I hope that's the case. It has the potential to be a nice little gem.

This is my favorite restaurant. Bring your wine and enjoy it. The food is delicious.
