I had my meal in the courtyard, which was very pleasant on an August evening. The indoor seating also looked good, but I was lucky that they had an available table in the courtyard area for me, although I had not booked in advance. Vai is a very good small restaurant with an appealing menu and dishes and service that are excellent. We visited in July 2020 and were separated from the adjacent diners by an empty table due to Covid. The restaurant was still mostly full and the atmosphere was good. We enjoyed a house cocktail called the VAImouth which was great and made with vermouth, gin, a non alcoholic pear flavored Prosecco, mint, orange and pepper. For starters we had the scallop and calamari appetizers, which were the highlight of the meal mouth watering and Michelin quality. A nice restaurant in the old town of Lübeck. Visited with woman at the Easter weekend. Service is fast and friendly. Food is good, but not exceptional. They offer some wines on the glass, but the choices are few. The menu is German only so brush to your school German or make some internet research before you go there...

It was a wonderful evening! Welcoming and caring manager I had all possible adjustments in menu according to my special diet. High quality food, a nice atmosphere. Don't know what to add, I would recommend VAI if you want a guarantee of a great evening.
