I arrived at Vapiano around 7:45pm, expecting to have enough time to dine before their 9:00pm closing time. However, I was surprised to find out that guests are required to order and pay through an app without any interaction with a server. Despite several failed attempts to place my order, I eventually had to ask a server for help. Unfortunately, even after placing my order, I still found myself waiting for over 40 minutes while the table behind me received their food and drinks promptly. Frustrated with the lack of communication and service, I decided to leave without receiving anything I had ordered. We've been to Vapiano in a few cities in Europe now and we like it. The guys in Edinburgh are doing a good job, but for whatever reason they seem to be stretched a bit thin. We managed to get a table with just a short wait, but we were right by the door and had people standing next to us while we ate for the entire time we were there, such was the queue at the door. That just means they are popular tho, and rightfully so. The food is always good and decent value in such a big city, a couple more staff members would probably help out the waiting times and the work load on those already going flat out, but certainly worth a visit.
Visited with our kids today. I don’t think many people staff or paying guests were having a good time. The place was short staffed, which we were advised of. The pizzas were burned in places and tasteless. My wife’s pasta with pesto was brilliant. My pasta with beef had about six small cubes for £15. Overall very average, and not worth £50. Plenty of other places to try. Such a shame as the place was really busy upstairs, not used downstairs at all. It’s such a captive audience at that location. Try implementing Wahaha service and taste and it would be brilliant.
Usually we’ve always enjoyed the food at vapiano (at other locations) but this time in Edimburgh The food really disappointed our expectations. Considering that i’m from Italy, i can say the dishes do not resemble the recipes. The cacio e pepe was overcooked noodles (not real pasta) full of pieces of pepper, had to drink lots of water to go through with. Same thing for the pasta al pomodoro, it was just okay.

I spotted Valpiano on maps. It appeared to be quite a small spot, but once we were inside it has two other floors. Staff were all great the food selection was fab, with a decent veggie selection. You can order via a QR code or simply order from the staff. The food was really tasty the prices were good, considering it's central location. I'll definitely eat here again the next time I'm in Edinburgh.
Located just off Princes Street and not far from Waverley, they have all the usual Vapiano fayre. I had a calzone which was really good and some ice cream- tasty, but served in a paper cup which didn't look great Service was fast and friendly- you order from your phone rather than going up and getting a buzzer which makes more sense, although sort of removes the Vapiano feel!
We had an early dinner while exploring Edinburgh and we enjoyed the Vapiano concept and food. However, this particular experience was different. First, you take a seat, receive a menu, order online, and pay. Then, you are served at your table. This process was fine for us, but the restaurant looked cheap and a bit deserted. Additionally, the food was nothing special.
Really delicious food. Amazing service. Very quick, kind, and helpful staff. Beautifully clean restaurant and well lit which is very much appreciated. So much choice on menu. All types of pasta with different sauces. Salad was fresh and very tasty. Absolutely recommended.

The staff at this restaurant were friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, our main dishes did not taste good and were unpleasant. We ended up leaving most of the food uneaten and would recommend skipping this place.
