We had our wedding here in September and the whole experience was absolutely top notch. We started planning in January with the charming and capable Maisie. As the venue is licensed for marriages we were able to have the ceremony on site. The day was wonderful, the staff are a massive asset to this family run business- special shout out to Maisie and Doug. Doug was there (it seemed) for the whole 24 hours we were there! He works so hard and has amazing customer service skills. All of the team were lovely, I am sorry I don't have any other names. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two friendly and professional staff members. They checked us in and escorted us to our rooms, even helping with our luggage. The rooms were fantastic - I stayed in room 3 and my friend stayed in the green room on the second floor. The rooms were stocked with bottled water, illy coffee sachets, tea, and biscuits. The bathroom was lovely and the sofa was extremely comfortable. The mattress provided a great night's sleep. The staff, from the General Manager to the reception, bar, and restaurant teams, were all young but very professional. Verzon House is a high class dining establishment which is quite expensive. We had a reasonable meal until the desserts arrived. The so called Amaretto Sundae was only whipped and flavoured double cream with a few biscuits crushed over the top served in glass mug. It was so indigestible we both felt quite poorly afterwards. There was no skill in making this particular dessert and was unacceptable in such an establishment. We were so disappointed that they even added a service charge which we asked to be removed. Venison dish was so small. 3 small slices of meat, 3 tiny carrots, 2 sprigs broccoli, a spoonful of mash. We honestly thought they would be bringing extra veg out. Not worth £25 I'm afraid. Very dissapointed in this dish for sizing. Other items in the menu were much bigger for our other friends. Can't say how much of a dissapointment this was and had to try and laugh about it to avoid embarrassment as we took friends out for a birthday meal. We spent £230 there on food and drink, £75 of that was on venison!

Beautiful setting with ample parking space. Friendly and welcoming staff. Have visited many times previously and it’s a preferred destination to entertain visiting friends and family as the meals are a feast for the eyes as well as delicious and have not disappointed. Service is prompt and all in a beautifully furnished and very comfortable dining rooms. Love the options on the menu from light to a filling meal for those who wished it. We had a fantastic experience at Verzon House. We stayed overnight for a family birthday celebration at the hotel and had a warm, inviting, and clean room with beautiful views. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The evening celebration featured delicious food and attentive service. The next morning, we enjoyed a well-prepared full English breakfast with local ingredients. Thank you for a great stay - we will definitely return.
This was our first visit to The Verzon House Hotel, we went there for lunch. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and, on arrival, we were welcomed by a roaring log fire. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Being vegetarians we are often disappointed when eating out, but we were very impressed by the quality of the food. Service was very prompt. We will definitely eat here again.
We went out for a celebratory lunch after making a reservation online. We all ordered the fish, chips, and peas with homemade tartar sauce. The haddock was absolutely delicious as always. The cocktails and draught ale were excellent. It was great that we could bring our small dog with us to dine outside in the beautiful garden with stunning views. The staff was always friendly and polite.

Food, service, surroundings all perfect. Sunday lunch with the family and it was spot on. Beautiful decor, food delicious, fresh, clean and yummy. We will be back more often.
