"Well deserves the Michelin-star. We went to two Michelin-starred restaurants in Salamanca, both with multiple tasting courses. The other one is called En La Parra. They were both excellent but if you only had one night then I'd chose Victor Gutierrez because of the unique combination of Spanish and Peruvian flavours, presented beautifully, with very friendly professional staff."

We dined at Victor Gutierrez for dinner shortly after Christmas. The experience could not have been more pleasurable. The restaurant is located somewhat inconspicuously opposite the Palacio de Congresos. It is small and intimate. The food and the service are simply excellent. We were attended by Kristina, Marcella, and Andrea. They operated as a smooth, professional and exceptionally attentive team. They were good-humored, always available but never intrusive, and knew their brief thoroughly. The menus are table d'hote, something we generally avoid. But in this case the selection was well-warranted. Among the exceptional offerings were fried sea lettuce and avocado, tuna with coconut sauce and curry, pickled partridge, watermelon radish, and the venison. The wine list is well-balanced and reasonably priced. Noting our fondness for local regional wines, Andrea offered to contact one of the leading local wineries to arrange a visit. She followed up as promised the next day. The chef visited the table at the end of the meal and, despite linguistic constraints on both sides, was thoroughly charming. We are very fond of Salamanca and make an effort to visit each time we are in Spain. We will be certain to return to Victor Gutierrez when we do.

A succession of small dishes, all very good. Inspired by, depending on which dish. the cuisine of Peru, the local region, or East Asia. Excellent food: light, tasty, well seasoned, sometimes spicy hot, very novel. The accompanying wines option is also inventive and diversified, well matching the wines with the food. Minimalist décor, too much so for me, but we are here for the cuisine. Located a bit far away from the centre. The extra 40€ for the Raices menu is probably not worth it over the Metizo. Wine mariage on the expensive side, but not excessively. Victor seems to appreciate money. Overall a different type of meal, to do again.

The only good thing with this place is that I did not choose the 14 course dinner. Food is not all bad but all in all it is so far from a Michelin star level restaurant that one could imagine. Staff is not knowledgeable about basic etiquette. They are not offensive but had I not known better I would say that they are illiterate. The only saving grace is the main waitress from Barcelona (didn’t get her name . The ambience is an IKEA style decor (literally!! Defining a good place from not so good by “I’d come back here! This would score below the chart. I will NEVER come back to this place.

I’ve read so many mixed reviews of the restaurant so I was sceptical. I heard from a fellow guest that nobody there speaks English but there was one lady there who does. She’s not a sommelier as such but very knowledgeable about the wines and she chose three beautiful wines for me. All the dishes are not too fusion and is honestly tasty. Good ingredients very honestly executed not too complicated. I enjoyed the food and the wine tremendously. Very nice experience after all.
