Good Italian food is rare in York. I grew up in an Italian family and community with many Italian eateries, so I may be more particular than locals. I liked the food, but I don't feel it was worth the prices. I've had better for less . My Italian wedding soup was barely warm and was 90 percent salty pasta and maybe 10 percent meatballs and greens. The salad had a nice balance of flavors. My guest enjoyed the veal Marsala. The table bread was tasty. Service was slow because they were slammed and understaffed. The staff were hustling and keeping up the best they could. The room was loud and it was difficult to hear conversation.
So glad I found this place. It seems no where is open anymore on Monday’s and I happened upon Victor’s on a search for a new dining spot, I was not disappointed. All staff was very friendly, service was great and the food was exceptional. Our server Matt, who was so wonderful, suggested the tortellini with short ribs when I was torn and it was a star dish! It was so creamy, tender and flavorful. The other guest ordered the chicken piccata and said it was good but too much lemon. The moscato and sangrias were delicious as well. Atmosphere was very elegant and music choice was nice. I can’t wait to go back again.
The Italian Wedding soup was wonderful, my chicken parmesan was average (small portions and average sauce) and the dessert was divine. The wait staff was kind and attentive but in a hurry. When she offered to add parmesan cheese she cranked one wind and then did not ask if we wanted more of it was enough. We felt rushed as the restaurant was full... The ambiance is nice in an old church.... However, (in my opinion) for the money there are better options.
The only reason I gave it a “Atmosphere score of 4” was because the bar area was closed due to circumstances beyond their control which cancelled the live jazz (which is the best IN TOWN). But this restaurant is our Italian FIX! if you’re hankering for some good old “The Godfather part 1, or The Good Fellas classic Italian cuisine look no further, and if they’re having live music you better hurry and make reservations!!!! The polpette on the menu under snacks was delicious. The margherita pizza came out with a black crust on half of it but it was overall very good. The chicken parmigiana was good but the pear martini tasted like straight lemon juice. Food presentation was on point. Glad we were able to come out and give the restaurant a try!
