Vivo Italian Cuisine Nancy and I decided to venture out for a bit of “Fine Dining”, and made reservations at Vivo Ristorante in Hawkstone, just off of the Henday on Lessard Road. I previously sampled their Gnudi which was prepared by one of their chefs...a few years ago at a Home Garden Show, so was looking forward to sampling some things off of their menu at the restaurant. I was impressed with the helpful manner and professionalism of the person that answered the telephone as he provided clear guidance re the menu, etc. based on the questions that I had. Fine dining prices without the fine dining atmosphere or food quality. Three friends and myself went for dinner on a Friday evening. It was super loud, so we had to yell to talk to each other. We were seated at a table by the entrance...even though I had requested a booth in my reservation. Two of us ordered a 6 oz glass of wine and one ordered a 9 oz, and she brought all of us the same size. She also didn’t explain the family style until we asked how we should order. I just expect excellent service when I’m paying as much as everything costs here. I also noted when I went to the bathroom that they had a coat rack no one offered to take our coats when we arrived. We went to Vivo for our Valentine’s Day dinner. I can’t begin to say how amazing the food and the service was, again. First of all, our server Chris was not only attentive and great at what he does, but also so friendly. We really...enjoyed chatting with him. And the food....it never ceases to amaze me how good the food is at Vivo. The food will absolutely never disappoint. And of course, the nice bottle of wine with it topped it off. A big thank you to Vivo for making us feel normal right now when things clearly aren’t.
We've been to Vivo many times over the years and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. We appreciate how the servers thoughtfully describe each dish, highlighting the ingredients and how they are prepared. Their grilled Caesar salad is...a must and any pasta we've ever had there has been fresh and full of flavour. The best Italian food we've had outside of Italy hands down. If you haven't been to Vivo before, you are missing out!
my wife and I went after vivos on the basis of previous reviews and were not disappointed by anything. the ambiente is soft and relaxing, music low in the background, lighting was perfect. our waitress sean was excellent in all areas, explained all our dishes perfectly. it was a pleasure to dine and my wife enjoy everything when she is a fantastic cook herself and hard to please. many thanks for a wonderful culinary experience, we will be back with guests in the tow.
we are excited to try this restaurant. we arrived a few minutes early and sat right away. we sat 20 minutes on a table and no single employee spoke to us. no water, no gruß, nothing. we commanded one and drove to sorrentinos, where we were treated fabulously. I would not go to this restaurant again. for the prices they calculate, they would think that their customer experience would fit. not at all. they save money and are better treated elsewhere.
We had a group of Alfa Romeo club members in a side room with a four course fixed menu. Each course had two or three option shared family style. It was great, fresh, tasty, not particularly daring but super quality. Great attentive waiter as well,...and very good wine list. Not cheap but well worth it. A little out of the way in a suburban mall but make the effort.
vivo is by far the best Italian restaurant in edmonton, and one of the best in total! we continue to come to this restaurant for dinner and Sunday brunch to enjoy our favorites and taste new dishes. we have never even disappointed in the quality and taste of our meal! the service is excellent and the atmosphere is. highly recommended!
if you enjoy first class Italian cuisine this is the place to go. but the service is even better. without doubt the best service in edmonton. the menu is designed to be crooked, which should serve, family style, so that allow...more possibilities. the most praised risotto court was the best ever
