My husband and I had the good fortune to stumble upon Waldgasthof Buchenhain this past May as we were walking south from Munich along the Isar River. Thankfully we arrived just at lunch time and decided to take advantage of the lovely setting in their large outdoor garden. The food was über fresh and totally amazing. We had trout, which was perfect, and a large salad with turkey strips (ubiquitous throughout the region) which was probably the best version of this dish I have ever had (and I've eaten this in at least 2 dozen places in Bavaria). This is a beautiful Biergarten and hotel in the woods near the Isar River. It is nicely located for hikers walking through the woods or for cyclists riding along the river as a place to take a break and grab a beer. And, if you are tired of hiking or cycling, the S-7 stops right directly at the Gasthof; the ride back to central Munich is direct and takes only about 25 minutes.The Biergarten is relaxing, not large but not tiny, it seats about 800 and has a Leinwand (large TV) that is use to display soccer game during tournaments. It also has a large play area for children.The Biergarten is quite comfortable, with shade trees. The beer on tap is Hofbräu, and of course they have the liter mugs....
Our neice lives just across the road from the Waldgasthof and as usual every year when we visit, we go have a drink and a meal here. This place never fails!! Six adults and two small children had most superb meals. They catered for the kiddies with smaller meals which was well presented and quickly eaten. The chidren played on the bouncy castle (no charge) until it was switch off time. Even the waiter was extremely helpful with some of the translation despite not speaking much English. Thoroughly enjoyable - well done to all the staff!!
We had ordinary dishes, schnitzel, lamb, scampi and pasta with tomato sauce. The pasta was over cooked, my daughter didn't even more than taste it. The potato gratin with the lamb was not cooked enough and the meat quite tasteless. I got three(!) scampi (16 €) with some dry white rice, the small pieces of vegetables were good though. With the schnitzel they served prefabricated crocettes. In General a very Bad food experience and we payed 70€ four the four dishes in total.

We were having a walk through the forest near Isa and decided to stop for lunch.The food was good quality and the service was excellent. We usually find it tense to dine with our children because of the noise they generate. Not here, the waiter was well versed in dealing with kids.
we often order at the delivery service, but what we got from bookinghain was top quality in every sight! we are glad to have a supplier now, who delivers this quality to us too! next order will follow soon!
the delivery time was the perfect time. friendly contact. the food could have been warmer, the candy was a bit dry, but tastefully wonderful. everything else very delicious and fresh.
Nice, well appointed hotel, good food tastefully appointed restaurant, good breakfast, good location for traveling further south, S-bahn in front of hotel
