"Such a great experience. A fun walk in the woods and then you arrive at this magical spot, where Tino hosts you and serves some amazing food. It’s more like eating at someone’s home than a restaurant. Don’t skip this if you’re in or near Wengen. The stars are gorgeous from this spot."

If you want a different eating experience, then make the 30 minute uphill hike into the forest from Wengen (or get the train to Kleine Scheidegg one stop and walk downhill). You will be given a friendly welcome by Tino and Karin, once you have recovered from the walk. It's a hut, yes a real wooden hut. No electricity so candles on the table. About 25/30 covers at most and it doesn't open every day, especially in summer, so YOU NEED TO BOOK BY PHONE. Otherwise, you've walked there for nothing. No menu, you get what you're given, which in our case was fondue with bread and potatoes, simple salad and pineapple flambee, washed down with cans of beer (there is wine available). There was a party o...

Foodie or not, this is a remarkable experience! No electricity, instead you will find a candle lit and warm surrounding- it's not hard to visualize a timelessness that existed before our modern reality of smart phones, starbucks and in-door plumbing here. Of course, you'll need to take an airplane and a train to get here- followed by a long walk in the dark through a magic wood. Tino and Karen meet you with a paper cup of mulled wine, followed by the most delicious dinner of Fondue you might ever taste. Wine is available- but dont expect a menu- Chef Tino is the menu. The duo are engaging, friendly and wonderful hosts. The memory of this evening will last long after most other dining experie...

This is quite unique. An unheated hut with no electricity or running water in the woods above Wengen. As we started the supposedly 20 minute walk, it was quite possibly the stupidest thing to do. 2 tourists walking through empty forests in the dark knowingly having cash as the restaurant didn’t take anything but? Anyway, that wasn’t the stupidest as we started to walk when the conditions were such that the path had been compacted and repeatedly frozen so that it was a sheet ice walk uphill which took an hour! None the less, it was worth it for a fondue like you’ve never tasted and a very authentic Swiss evening in the mountains reminiscent of how things used to be.

We went as a party of 8 most took the train to Allmend and walked in. I had damaged my calf so went via taxi...........Its a scary ride. The evening was perfect will a full moon. Hot drinks outside before a great meal and lots to drink. Tino was on fine form.On the way back there were hang gliders and people on sledges at 11pm the night was so bright. It was memorable. My opinion this is a must.
