Walrus Chinese Restaurant

As a Doncaster East girl going to Springvale for dinner at 8pm when all I wanted to do was curl up and sleep to prep myself for a big day of work tomorrow... Allow me to share with you my opinion on how much it was WORTH IT!! Walrus is an efficient, unpretentiously down to earth Asian restaurant and it was my first time there with mum and dad. The staff were friendly to everyone and the food arrived pretty quick. Don't look at the presentation of the decor or food, the hero is the quality of the way the dishes are cooked and the TASTE. From the outside this restaurant is nondescript but inside the Walrus is a standard setter for service and food. Front of house we were looked after by Anita and she was very helpful, entertaining and offered suggestions as we selected dishes. The kitchen service was remarkable, within the space of 5 - 10 minutes our meals arrived and this happened all through the night. The food was top class the sizzling steak melted in your mouth, the chicken with salted egg yolk was stunning deep frying and clams in XO sauce with Chinese donuts should not be missed.Anita offered us dishes from the Chinese only menu spicy duck tongues and roasted pigeon which were highlights of the night.Other hospitality...

Terrible service, terrible food. My husband, two children and I went here for dinner last night (Saturday night) and ended up walking out after waiting over an hour for our main courses to (never) arrive. We asked waiters on numerous occasions what was happening however they never followed up! Absolutely atrocious service. The peanut satay for entree was sloppy and tasteless. Will never go back and would NOT recommend this go 'restaurant' to anyone

Went out with two friends for dinner on a Saturday night had reserved for 7.30 and had to wait for around 25 mins, understandably it was very busy however it was worth the wait all food was delish ! Beef &Blackbean was my personal fave ,however crispy skin pork,salt n pepper chickenwings ,and calamari didnt disappoint !! A little expensive however quality was up there !!

The Staff and owner Anita aim to make your visit the best experience of asian food you can find, The food is fresh and the mood is vibrant the fried chicken is a standout as is the sea scallops wrapped in prawn meat. But here the food is very good check out things like crocodile and ask what specials they have.
