we were the first time after the reopening with new owners there again. the card offers standard dishes. the ordered jägerschnitzel came in a sweetly dressed (no leaf salad with tomate or anything that a little joy or the impression of freshly prepared) on a dish that would be more expected in canteens. the carving was very small, the sauce 0 8 15. the pommes pommes could be counted, so small was the part. positiw: the ingredients were fresh to eat in principle tastefully quite ok. nothing special. on my demand in service because of the really small portion, whether there was a mistake and there was a senior carving, I got the answer that it was a normal one. Having dined multiple times in the restaurant of Hotel Am Schloss we expected similar quality since the chef is the same. We were mildly disappointed. The meals were fine but not outstanding. We were most let down by the wine menu. Zum Wein-Zinken is supposedly a great restaurant for wines and dining but the wine list is short and is a far cry from the days in Hotel Am Schloss. There the Jean Bücher wines were excellent and the wine list was considerably more extensive. Tip for the chef: expand the wine list!
A wonderful atmosphere with a chimney in the middle of the room and tables around. perfect for lunch or dinner. As in nearly all german restaurants: Be there between 12 und 14h - and at night not after 21:00h, otherwise you well net enter because the cook will be gone...But the traditional food, for example a great "Schnitzel", is very much recommended! And the wine-list ist perfect to enjoy this wonderful region in Germany. Go to Alzey; you will never regret it!
Wanted to eat German food in Germany and most of the local restaurants seems to be Italian, so we reviewed trip advisor and decided to give it a try. We sat indoors as the our door tables were all occupied. The decor is traditional, staff helpful, friendly yet not over bearing. The service was excellent and the meals large and v tasty. Just managed main course and drink for 3 people cost approx 50 euros. Would recommend!

Very friendly staff, simple but good menu, varied choice of wines and beers.A typical German eat and drink local/pub. Well patronised and when all tables are occupied, sharing a table is expected and welcomed.Simple, home-cooked food of good quality and generous portions. Local wines are reasonably priced. 2 course meal and drinks for 20-25 Euro per person.
Nice place and nice Restaurant in a partly medieval town! The restaurant has no day off but serves lunch only until 2:00 p.m. Typical German food, nicely arranged and very tasty! Love The Schnitzel and for shure a nice glass of wine! Have a break there... not far from the museum!
