A beautifully located small, casual Italian wine bar restaurant opposite South Cronulla beach. The minute you walk in you are made to feel welcome by the staff. The place is not big with a long bar where you can stand or sit for some drinks antipasti and tables both inside outside for dining. The menu offers all the quintessential Italian dishes with a heavy focus on house made pasta. Antipasti is so well priced perfect to order several to share with drinks whilst you chat decide on the mains. Started off disappointing as our order was lost and we waited 45 minutes for just the bread. Normally this wouldn't bother us but it was freezing outside. The maitre d' came over to ask if everything was OK and we were honest and said no. Straight away the Manager came and said he would find us a table inside when available and offered us complimentary drinks. Once we moved inside the waitress was extremely attentive and offered us free desert and lemoncello. The food was amazing and all the staff were apologetic. I had a wonderful evening at Wheat Barrel. The maître d' truly enhanced the experience with their excellent service. When my friend ordered a drink, the maître d' took the time to check if she meant to order it and explained its contents, especially since it was a strong cocktail like an "old fashioned." I really appreciated that attention to detail. The food was delicious, and the service was prompt. I definitely recommend trying the seafood pasta I had (I can't recall the exact name on the menu, but I'm sure the staff can help you find it). It was delicious!
We absolutely adore Wheat Barrel! The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We highly recommend the Norcina; it's our favorite pasta dish at our favorite Italian restaurant.
