When you walk in, the first thing that you notice is that the restaurant has a typical old Indian setup. We were a group of colleagues and we ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Curry, Mutton Keema Masala, Palak Paneer and Dal Tadka. The food was...served in quick time, presentation was okay and the preparation was good. We had asked for preparation in an Indian way and the food was exactly prepared that way. We would have liked the food to be spicier but no complaints as such. We liked the taste, although must say that I would not rate it as one of the best Indian restaurants in Germany. Service was always with a smile and prompt. Would go again.
I went there on my own one evening and they told me I couldn't have a seater table for myself, even though there we're plenty of tables available, I would have to share with a stranger, I've never been told this in any of...the restaurants I've eaten in from all around the world. Decided not to spite myself and ordered a tikka masala to takeaway and eat in my hotel. The curry was revolting, nothing like a masala, bland taste with carrots, broccoli and onions in it??? I was starving but gave in trying to eat it and flushed it down the toilet. Please if you like a good curry and a nice atmosphere to eat it then stay away from The White Elephant.
Looking for some food in the area we stumbled on this place. No credit cards are accepted only cash or pin!! Even though it was quite busy the service was good and swift. We got our drinks and were able to order also pretty quickly....The food was ok but I missed some of the fiery mouth blistering hot taste when I had the Vindaloo. In fact it was a bit blend. The appetisers were good and the naan bread was tasteful. Maybe I need to go back again and see the other dishes so this is shy this place is OK for me instead of very good or excellent.
After being seated we had to leave because almost every item on the menu seemingly contained gluten. I found this very disappointing and very strange since Indian food is not normally made with wheat flour at all. Every other Indian restaurant I have visited has...never been this difficult. The staff (who we talked to) did not speak much English and didn’t understand, so we had to leave. Bummer!

Very nice guy who helped me choose some vegan options and made a few dishes vegan and low oil. Great service and great food, at very reasonable prices!
