We go to Mittenwald/Garmisch several times a year when we need our fix of German food..I always look for gulaschsuppe--my favorite German soup. Wildfang is a fairly new restaurant in Mittenwald, and was perfect for soup-hunting on a cold December day..I rated the gulaschsuppe (out of family would have preferred it without the additional cheese on top....I can't comment on other food, but the Mittenwalder beer was great!
While living in Innsbruck, we made a day trip to Mittenwald. We chose this restaurant for a hearty lunch when we saw their varied schnitzel menu. We were fortunate to be there on Tuesday, when they had special prices and dishes. The servings were huge,...the prices were extremely reasonable, and the waitress was very friendly. Parking was conveniently located not far from the restaurant always a bonus in Europe.
Yes, we went back to Mittenwald again and after a long walk we needed food and drink. This was provided by the Wildfang restaurant. The Ploughman, a salad base with saute potatoes, bacon and fried egg on the top, what a meal! The staff were...very friendly, we were well looked after. So much so we went back there quite a few times after that. When you fine a good place to eat, you stick to it.
Nice place to people watch, drinks served quickly however our food took over an hour to arrive. The truth is our waitress forgot our order but when we queried the delay (after half an hour) instead of apologising she was very rude. In the end...they didn't charge for one beer and the food when it did arrive was tasty. Won't go there again
It's a tourist place; you get hungry and you want to sit down. The food is above average for a tourist place if you are American. Pork and spaetzle and fried onions, yum. A little removed from the hub-bub in the center of town. Waiteress...spoke little English but we got along fine.
Me and my family ate lunch here in july. The food was okay, despite the late arrival (we waited hour). The staff was not very nice and ignored us after we sent our drink back. I got a without any bubbles, and the...waittress was childish and arrogant after that. Not worth a visit!
