We stayed overnight at a hotel just around the corner of the restaurant. It was a freezing cold evening and we did not feel like hunting for a restaurant. This place was buzzing with locals having a beer and a bite after the workweek. We were lucky to grab a table as some people left just as we entered. Local food served, I had rosti with sausages, bacon and egg - sounds like breakfast but it was wonderfully warming on such a cold night. My partner had the local veal Zurichoise dish served with rosti, also very nice. Not much of a wine list, we had a carafe of local Rose - quite drinkable, but their speciality is obviously beer.
I met a work colleague here for lunch and it's a decent place for a quick sit down lunch right next to the main train station. The menu and deco is pretty local - including fondue - and the servings large. There are special lunch menus as well. Mains are around 18-25 CHF and so within the normal range. The food is pretty decent - very acceptable (I appreciated the fries were well cooked and crunchy). Overall, convenient location and decent food; good for catching up with speedy and friendly service. There is also outside seating for the nice warmer days.
Ein empfehlenswertes Lokal. Die Speisekarte ist überschaubar, die Qualität solide und die Preise sind angemessen. Der Service ist unterschiedlich von absolut top bis leider auch flop. Und die Portionengrössen sind eher knapp bemessen. Aber die Lage ist unbestechlich gut. Kleines Detail 1: Der Fleischkäse ist zwar etwas dünn geschnitten, aber eine gewaltige Geschmacksdetonation. Mein Favorit! Kleines Detail 2: Man bekommt auch im Hochsommer ein gutes Fondue!
We were down at the main railway station (Zurich HB) and fancied some refreshment so made our way up to ground level and stopped at the first bar we found, sat outside and ordered a couple of beers. These were sipped as we watched the to-ing and fro-ing at the adjacent tram stop.

Schönes Restaurant mit besonderem Flair und interessanten Bildern aus der Vergangenheit an den Wänden. Der Service war gut, wir waren zum Mittagessen da. Das Restaurant ist ein Treffpunkt für alle mit gut bürgerlicher Küche und normalen Preisen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
I stayed close by in a hotel and did not want to run around too much to find a place for dinner. This place was busy and served me a very nice meal. Attentive staff, I would come here again.
Stayed close by and was jet lagged and starving so this was convenient. Prices were reasonable, staff friendly and the food was also very good. Felt very traditional so was happy with that.
Very kind people serving the tables. Make you feel very confortable and like home. Totally the opposite to the place in front called St.Gallerhof
