The exterior wasn't so encouraging and the stairs up to the terrace were even offputting (terrace closed due to weather anyway) but the dining room at the rear, with a view over the river, looked inviting. The menu showed we had hit gold dust. I...homed in on homemade Spätzle but then noticed Saumagen a very local speciality which I love. What a pity we weren't staying for a week! My husband chose something like Bauernpfanne which included a Maultasche, a Leberknödel and two mini-schnitzel I'll never know how he managed to eat it all! The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean. This is a must if you appreciate excellent local dishes.
My wife and I went there for dinner only because the Hotel Muehlentor closed early for lack of customers. Turns out, it was our lucky day. The food at the Wirtshaus Wolpertinger was very good basic German food, and the portions were sizable. I would...gladly go back again and would recommend it to my friends.
Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the dishes we had were really fantastic. We had the oven potato with smoked salmon and the turkey with mushroom sauce, really tasteful. Prices are very good as well.
