This was my last meal in the bay after having been here 8 years, and I genuinely mean it when I say this is some of the best Hunan food l've had in the area, if not ever. I wish I had found this place sooner. The prices are more than fair for the portion size, we were a party of four and ordered four dishes a starter (with rice) and left completely stuffed. The spice is no joke, but it burns in the best way possible. The sliced beef tendon in chili is the most fragrant l've had, and had a kick that I'm not usually used to but absolutely loved. Tasty and expansive menu offering great Hunan style dishes. This restaurant is close to Berkeley and worth the trek up. The dining area has lots of tables so there usually isn’t a wait though it’s usually fairly busy with guest. This was my second time going so we tried a few new dishes. I am a fan of spicy and numbing foods so everything tasted delicious, but my favorites are always any of the white fish soups (sliced flounder). The tea served with our meal was also quite tasty. omg 老坛酸菜焦 活鱼 was so good, I'm sooo happy I found a place around Berkeley area that can make spicy dishes with layers of flavors and fermentation and with delicate, good quality meat. The fish was so fresh, amazing quality, and the skin was fatty and tender. Big portion too, worth the price imo! In the mood for some authentic Chinese food. This place definitely delivered. The squid tentacles and lotus were delicious!
