Pleasant find in the upper part of Ballantrae Stouffville. Every now and then i love me some Canadian Chinese food. I ordered take out and although the service was quite long (30min wait) the food luckily was decent enough to make us happy at the end. We had chicken balls of course and xo noodles with soo guy chicken. The batter on the chicken for both dishes were super crispy and yummy. Chef must have worked at a fish and chips house before lol... three and a half stars.
Since moving an hour away, I have struggled to find a new Chinese takeout spot that matches the quality of Wok Chef. Whenever I find myself passing through Ballantrae, I make sure to stop by and pick up my favorite dishes, which still taste just as delicious as I remember. Be sure to order early, as Wok Chef tends to get very busy and you may have to wait 1-2 hours for your food.
I’m sorry but the food is SO expensive for what you get. I know about inflation, but the prices have gone nuts. Strange flavour on the udon noodles and black bean beef. Very nice sweet and sour shrimp, but too pricey for a small amount.It would be nice if could use better takeout containers the black plastic ones can’t be recycled. A little bit slow service.
Absolutely fantastic meal! The food was flavourful, prepared fresh, and very hot. I was throughally impressed and will definitely be back. Hands down, one of the best chinese restaurants in York Region. There is also plenty of parking avaliable which is an added bonus. Currently, this restaurant holds the top spot for me. So glad we stopped here for lunch. The bartender was so sweet and made delicious drinks. I got the mahi salad and it was delicious! I’ll definitely be returning!
Furthermore, the service was slow as it took over an hour for our order to be ready for pick up.
