We only go for breakfast because their omelette is great big enough for two people and the bowl of oatmeal also very large the person cooking is very pleasant but the last time we went the owner didn't offer to sit us even though there was an empty table all that was needed was two more chairs for us to be seated, she did tell us it would be a wait for our food and you don't have to stay I felt that should of been our decision our feeling was she didn't want us there but we did stay. We took two chairs from another table. The waiter was very pleasant
I have been eating breakfast here since 2003 when I lived in the area. When visiting my brother now, we always find time to stop in for a delicious breakfast. They consistently deliver flavorful homestyle breakfast staples, such as omelets, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and corned beef hash. All of which I personally recommend.
Good food, very rustic little place. The servers were elderly woman and it made me feel like i was getting to have breakfast with my grandma one last time she passed a few yrs back) it was a great morning and first date place for me.
Great homestyle cooking for cheap. The Soldier offers a casual, relaxed atmosphere and a pleasant staff. If you're looking for a nice diner to stop into, you won't find better in town.

Fantastic lunch prepared by the ladies. Real turkey on my club sandwich, FF, homemade soups, and the macaroni salad was delicious! Right out of the 1950’s. Comfort food big time!
What a delightful experience. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. If you’re driving through Fairhaven, VT definitely make a stop !!
Be sure to be on time, or you won't get in the door. Really good food, have some fun with the staff. All good.
Nice place for breakfast but if your busy and need to get moving this is not the place it is a slow place
