I. Love. This. Place. As a vegan I thought I'd never get to eat sushi again! Not only do they have vegan sushi but they can work w my dairy allergy, all of my other food allergies and are respectful and kind about it. We order take out as well as dine in. It's my youngest son's favorite place for his birthday and they do not charge a cake cutting fee but do sing happy birthday! This place is quiet but open enough to talk, there is private seating or seating where it's busier. The prices are remarkably low for the quality and abundance of the food you receive. This is absolutely the best sushi joint our side of town!

The presentation of the dishes was impressive, reflecting the effort that went into each one. Every item we tried was perfectly seasoned. One of the highlights was the exceptional customer service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, frequently checking on us, and we even enjoyed a lovely chat with her. Though we didn't interact much with the rest of the staff, they were all very welcoming, sharing smiles and waves as they passed by. Overall, the experience and the food were nothing short of perfect. If I could, I would gladly give them more than five stars!

We recently just moved back to the Hampton Roads and had to visit our all-time favorite sushi spot. YamaChen just keeps getting better and did not disappoint. We ordered the Fire Shrimp, which was amazing as an appetizer. I had the Candy Cane and Christmas Tree rolls (pictured). My husband had the Dream and Twin Tower rolls. We were both pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. They also gave us complementary egg rolls with our food and delicious cheesecake for a sweet finish. I highly recommend coming here if you haven't already!

YamaChen's is delicious!Service is typically pretty slow and if they're really busy it can take quite a while to get your order but it's worth it.If you join their rewards program you get coupons and save up points to get free rolls or appetizers. So it's worth it.The inside has very neat decor that makes you feel like you're overseas or inside a temple of some kind which adds to the experience.Sushi is very good and they have a ton of flavors and roll options.

Nice atmosphere overall with cool decorating. We had high expectations because the food presentation was good but the sushi did not taste fresh and the sauce was not good. First time in a while that I did not eat everything. Our service was probably an anomaly but the waitress was rude, didn't get the order right, and didn't deliver drinks until very late. She was not busy so she didn't really have an obvious excuse.

Took my family here for lunch after a day at the beach. Wow, reasonably priced rolls, spring rolls on the house, plus little baby cheesecakes for dessert, also on the house. We ordered a certain number of rolls and they combined them in meal deals to reduce the price. Service was friendly and attentive, not overbearing. If I didn't live so far from this place, this would be my go to sushi place.

It's our first time here, but it's an amazing experience. The atmosphere really sets the mood- a nice one, precisely. The menu offers a variety of foods, and the rolls here are spectacular! When we got our order we didn't expect it to be served in a boat lol. The service here is amazing as well!!Overall, I rate this a 5/5!

**Kid-friendliness:** The restaurant plays instrumental piano music, so there’s no need to worry about any inappropriate content for the kids. **Dietary restrictions:** One person in our group is allergic to sesame, which is common in Asian cuisine, and the staff were very attentive in accommodating this dietary need.

THIS IS THE PLACE, LOOK NO FURTHER! The food is delicious and reasonably priced, plus they offer a variety of complimentary dishes. Vicky, our lovely waitress, took excellent care of us—I'd highly recommend requesting her. The atmosphere is fantastic, with beautiful decor to enhance the experience.

Great experience on Mother's day! The service was amazing and food is always fantastic! Love all the improvements through out the years. Thank you for the unexpected Mother's day present. Will definitely keep coming to this location.Food: 5/5
