I booked a table for two to celebrate our wedding anniversary as this was the venue where we had our reception years ago, so we thought it would be good to return. We have previously returned on a few occassions pre Covid to celbrate...our wedding anniversary and always had a decent meal. However, today was a completely different experience when it clearly states on a menu pan fried salmon, with brocolli etc, is it acceptable to have to hunt down the brocolli and go to the kitchen to ask for it? When it finally arrived, the main course was cold and the salmon was overcooked, the other vegetables had started to dehydrated as they had been on the hotplate and the salmon was more scrag end of salmon. It was the fillet from the tail piece and was exceptionally thin. Beef pie was ok but as a chef myself, I have never known a menu to state with seasonal veg' not to include potatoes these apparently were an extra when I asked the owner. Waitress/owner clearly knew we had a problem but was only interested in asking if we wanted more drinks and did not ask us how we were enjoying the experience. We did not bother for desserts or drinks just in case the chef/staff forgot to put it on the plate/glass. Very poor standards in kitchen and owners if the food is not visually checked before leaving the kitchen and for the waiting staff (who were the owners) not to have know items were missing. Clearly there are many positive reviews written about the Yew Tree, but what I experienced today, I will not be going back or recommending it to anyone. We have received more care and attention in Wetherspoons.

Booked a table for the seven of us today at While we were at the bar waiting for our table we decided to have drinks. The lady behind the bar wasn’t particularly that friendly to us. No smiles, no hello etc. When we got...seated, the table was not laid which is fine. We then ordered the starters and main course. The lady from behind the bar came back and put the cutlery on one plate expecting us to sort it out. I said to her immediately I don’t expect to come to a restaurant and lay the table myself. She then laid the table. The starters were absolutely fine the problem was with the main course. Roast potatoes tasted either frozen or had been cooked hours ago. In my opinion one of the most important parts of the roast! Good Restaurants should cook fresh potatoes for the late sitting. When I complained about this they just said okay sorry. Just like most retail outlets these days they think they are doing you a favour. Our waitress though was very nice that we had throughout the meal.

Visited recently for a Sunday lunch. Starters were OK, didn't have choice of what roll we wanted with the starter. We had the lamb and beef. I'm not sure what happened bit it seemed as if we had the last cuts of meat. The lamb...was fat and the beef didn't fair better. The plates arrived hot but the veg was warm and the potatoes were hard and heavy bot light and crisp. I did expect better as we have eaten here before, and had better. Its not as if you are paying average prices. Come on Yew Tree do better.

I first came here with a friend mid summer and we loved it. I had to have my car serviced over two weeks so came here while the work was carried out. Patrick, front of house, is such a gracious and considerate host. I’ve eaten...there twice stuffed peppers and fried Brie. The food both times was lovely and well presented. If the weather is decent then sit outside lovely garden if not then there are lots of lovely tables in a medieval setting. It’s a real gem in the Kent countryside.
