where do I start? that is a hidden gem that is not fair on the main road between ashbourne and derby. we were recommended here by not one, but two friends, so naturally it had to try. we have skipped on Saturday with thoughts about booking for the following Sunday and decided to eat. the menu comes on a large special board with a series of different dressed (no from tatty menu here) we choose cake and right we were compliments to the cook because my gott they were good. now for the best lunch on Sunday we arrived and were greeted by a friendly young lady who kindly offered Swap chair for my older mother to be more comfortable, how very thoughtful. Absolutely amazing place to eat and relax! Sunday lunch was one of the best I’ve ever eaten and for my three year old who is going through a VERY fussy eating stage at present she was given a lovely Ice cream treat while we were eating which enabled us to finish our amazing food. The staff were really friendly and attentive and we will definitely be back again. Thank you for a brilliant lunch and your kindness towards my daughter.

Like other reviewers.....why is this place not busier? Good attentive staff. Decent selection of beer. Good small menu of well cooked food. We had a good mixture of food, pizza was freshly made and the kids loved it, and the chicken kebabs off the specials was amazing. What topped off the meal was them rustling up a dairy free crumble at the end of the meal to ensure we were all able to have a dessert.

Nice friendly local, we call in for Sunday dinner on a regular basis. Good value for money in my opinion. Seats outside, plenty of parking, propper Country pub.

can not say enough about the staff we were well looked after, although they were very busy, eating was good and the beer went very good
