We visited on a Sunday when there were lots of families at the park. Food was ok, and the GF soup was really good, however there was poor quality very loud live music in the cafe which meant that everyone had to shout to be heard which certainly wasn’t a pleasant or relaxing experience! I bought an americano and was amazed that as it was being prepared half of the coffee coming out of the machine was running in to the drip tray! What a waste! The girl preparing the coffee told me that it was because the coffee was “one shot” which was fine but surely preparing coffee and then throwing half of it away must add to the costs….

£3.50 for a small chocolate coated lolly as big as a small size magnum …. If you have more than 2 children and are on a small wage or benefits this could up the bill significantly and a picnic would probably be your choice, be aware that the area is hilly and large and so carrying a heavy picnic bag and small children who are tired up steep hills past the cafe could be traumatic, as we witnessed today a poor mother struggling with a screaming toddler, young boy , picnic bag, up the steep hill back to the car park on her own…sympathies …
A parking fee and overpriced refreshments, but free to enter and explore 500 acres of land and lakes with lots of sheep and sculptures dotted about outside and inside in galleries, the best one underground. We found the Damien Hirst pieces like a flayed unicorn ugly, unoriginal and anti life but the Henry Moore monumental forms recline at peace with the surroundings. Our second visit always new and permanent pieces to see. Needed: good weather, nice walking shoes and a picnic.
After long walk around the Park. Peckish. Went around Gift Shop. Then had a inside Table in the Western Restaurant. Had a couple of Latte, s. My Friend had Good Quality Tomoto Chilli Soup. I had Lovely Tomoto, s on Rye Bread Toast. Pesto. Plus to Die far Smoked Bacon. Thoroughly Enjoyable Food. Next time. Will get their earlier. For Wild Mushroom, s on Toast. Cakes look Delectable Too. Yorkshire Rhubarb a must. Attentive Quick Service. Wonderful Quality. Reserva una mesa ahora
I met a friend for brunch, but in the end we opted for coffee and cake instead. The venue is lovely and airy with a nice waiting area and great views of the Sculpture Park, but items on the lunch menu did n't tempt us so we just had a dessert each. We thought it over-priced. The bill for 2 coffees, a chocolate brownie and a rhubarb granola crunch with yogurt, plus a pot of tea for two was over £26.00.
The queuing system here is nuts. People have been offering feedback on it for years. You get your hot food, but then to pay for it, you join the beverages queue. Or in our case a line of trays ‘place bagging’ as undecided art aficionados poured over the options for what they wanted with their drinks. They deliberated. Our food went cold.
Gluten free sandwich’s available, pre wrapped. Including vegetarian. Vegetarian gluten free soup with gluten free bread also available. Two sandwiches, two cans of drink and a small tub of ice cream came to £20! They do have a free water fountain which I only noticed after buying drinks.
The Weston being closed, we ate at the cafe. Delicious Bacon Chop with Cauliflower Cheese, and Kedgeree spoiled by being lukewarm and served on cold plates. Neither of us got a smile, a please or a thank you . This is NOT hospitality. Come on, Yorkshire you can do so much better. Reserva una mesa ahora
A must location to start the exploration of the park. The outside seating allows you to look over the park and some the sculptures as well as enjoying the food on offer.
