My one and only experience was a delivery order. I had the squid ink linguine with prawns. I thought the dish was tasty. It was a bit odd that they cut the prawns into small pieces before tossing with the pasta. I imagine that is to make it look like you are getting more than you really are. Not cool. It's a small thing but I like seeing the whole prawn. Although I enjoyed the dish, it certainly was not worth $30. Pasta is cheap and you skimp on the shrimp so $30 is a rip in my opinion. I would try them again if they had some reasonably priced specials.
Obviously a captive audience being almost in the foyer of 31 young street .. possibly why complacency has set in . Really very ordinary all round. The food was up market cafe style with price point that was not comensurate. The space was ok - average- lacked warmth. The service was really very ordinary . Really. I was waving like mad - not necessary in a restaurant that was one quarter full. To be honest if you are going to pay that sort of price, take a 5 minute walk to some amazing restaurants like Mr Wong, Felix, Hubert, spice room... etc etc etc
Had dinner here with a large group of 11. The food was not special and the poor waitresses could hardly understand english so had a hard time understanding requests, food came out at random intervals and was delivered to wrong parts of the table, two little pieces of crusty bread was charged at $14 the pizzas weren't any better than chain store pizzas. Nothing really good or bad just average which is not what we came to Sydney for...
The title sums it up. We were one of 5 tables that day for lunch and the service was so slow. A wrong dish came to the table and to get any service, we had to keep on asking. The one saving grace was the food was OK, but not even average enough to put up with the service

I ate pizza in this place and found it very bad. The location could be saved, but for the choice in the area it is not worth it. Poorly maintained place.
Good at accommodating groups and close to the quay, Young Alfred serves up consistently good food The service; however, can be pretty patchy.
Has access for wheelchairs so I wanted to rate it higherThe service was slowOur wine was niceThe lamb was nice but the scallops were burned.
Great food, great location, great service, very friendly staff. The barramundi was mouth watering and I would consider having it again!
