Lovely lunch at Bar Zulema this Sunday. Having visited this beautiful Spanish village on numerous occasions over the years we are aware how busy it can be. We therefore arrived at 1pm an hour before the recognised 2-4pm lunch period. We were astounded how busy all the restaurants were...maybe as it was Palm Sunday. However thought we would try this restaurant but expected a lengthy time to wait for service due to how busy both the inside and outside terraces were. What a pleasant surprise to be seated and served so promptly. Also , unlike many Spanish restaurants in the region Tapas were being served on a Sunday..ideal to sample the extensive menu. Este lugar está en el centro de la aldea. El interior es bastante oscuro, lleno de locales, e inalcanzable aunque hay algunas fotografías interesantes en la pared de las actividades en el antiguo pueblo que vale la pena ver. Fuimos con nuestro guía pero no tuve la impresión de que era un restaurante particularmente turístico. La mayoría comerá fuera y el servicio está bien. Básicamente la comida es tapas y bastante ordinaria pero perfectamente comestible y agradable especialmente si se lava con una copa de vino. We had lunch at this establishment on a warm afternoon. It looked very attractive in the town’s main plaza. Things didn’t start well when we were yelled at for trying to move a table and two chairs into the shade. Our drinks and first course of food came promptly enough, then we waited, and waited. I eventually had to hunt down a waiter to order dessert. Our dishes were tasty enough, especially a lamb stew, but there was no attempt to present anything with creativity merely a slop of food on a plate. Set in a quiet square with a lovely view of the surrounding hills even saw some eagles fly over head. Bar was full of locals , always a good sign. We sat outside in the square prompt service and Menu Del Dia was very good value. Maybe not as touristy as the main square but a better flavour of the town.
