To stay in Miltenburg for a few days, we only had to try out the famous house of Giants. We reserved online and got a confirmation immediately, unlike other houses that did not react at all. We were very kindly greeted and as soon as it was found that our German NIcht is too good, the staff spoke more slowly so that we could understand them. All employees were very attentive and considering how difficult they had to work, they were very efficient. We sat right next to the bar and were able to observe the pace at which beer was poured and served. So many are cast... Six of us recently stayed at this inn and unfortunately we have to say that we were very disappointed. The food wasn't served hot, which left a bad impression. The liver in particular was tough, with a thick layer of fat and was hardly edible. Unfortunately, when I made my complaint, I was not taken seriously. The reaction of the staff was not very insightful and even a bit cheeky. Nevertheless, my food was prepared again and although it was better, it was still not enjoyable. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. It feels more like a tourist trap where the quality of the food and service are not up to par. It's a shame, because I had hoped for more from the oldest inn in Germany.
The beautiful Renaissance Zum Riesen Gasthaus and inn (Inn of the Giant) has been hosting travellers since the 15th Century.It is Germany's oldest inn. As might be expected it was very busy on the sunny day we visited the beautiful town of Mitenberg.
We liked it very well, we were there a few times last weekend. The food was very delicious, the service was very friendly and attentive!! The only minus point we forgive is the temperature of the gifted beer: it was definitely too warm!!! Shame!
