After a less than positive experience in Bamberg the previous night we thought we would try the Zum Sternla which was recommended by our apartment manager. What a change. They didnt have an english menu but the owner said he would help explain. He was very helpful. We had the local bratwurst, sauerkraut and rye bread together with the Spezial Rauchbier and local white wine. Delicious combination. There was not any table space when we arrived but 4 locals seemed happy to let us join their table. One of the couples were keen travellers so we had a very interesting chat about overseas holidays. The food and beer were very nice but the friendly atmosphere was the best.
Visited Bamberg in November, so it was cold and snowing on my first night, luckily this place was only a few minutes walk from my hotel. Go in, say "hello" to the other customers (it's a german tradition) take a seat and wait for the waitress to come over, the menu is in german but I was lucky that the nice lady spoke good English and explained it all to me, the food was good and I took advantage of the season and had some very pleasant 6.6% "Bock bier" which after a few bottles keeps the cold out nicely! I was in Bamberg for six nights and visited this pub a few times, never had a complaint from service to food and drink.
We stopped in this pub for a dinner, walking through the interior to the outdoor garden (inside is closed during the summer). My wife and I were greeted by the only person serving had had beers and dinner. When the meal was over and we went to the counter to pay, our waiter stated that if we were satisfied with the service a tip would be appreciated. The service had been good so we added a tip to our bill. Only later looking over the receipt did was notice that a 19% service charge was included in the price. That's just WRONG!
Maybe it was just an off day but nothing about this restaurant was particularly wonderful. Limited seating, very busy and no front desk, which I know is the norm in Germany but it would help if there was someone to speak to you when you first walk in. The food was mid-level pub quality. Staff was nice and we were able to sit and enjoy our food as long as we desired. I would only come back during non-rush hour times. *no english menu*

A very good place with honest prices and great services. Everybody understands you in English. The food is pretty good, the bear is amazing - you must try the local Rauchbier - and the space is awesome. There is a very good area for smokers in a way that nobody feels excluded.An amazing place that we will come back for sure if we visit Bamberg again!
Very nice restaurant with option from the local cuisine. They also have several local beers, including the well known Rauchbier (that one which tastes like bacon :-)).The service is also extremely friendly and fast. I tried a Wurstteller, which is a mix of sausages. I recommend also the Schäuferla.
Had Sunday Lunch here whilst on a short break with two friends.Pros- the food is delicious - fresh in season local produce- the asparagus is wonderful - lovely selection of local beersCons- nothing of noteSummary Highly recommended to try the best food and beer that Bamberg has to offer.
Great atmosphere and very good service, urige Komfort. A truly delightful experience. I was brought back in time to grandmothers kitchen just from one bite of the chicken. I'll be coming back.

Short menu but really tasty (specially the pumpkin soup and the goulash). Warm and friendly atmosphere. Good beer too. Higly recommended.
Excellent service and great German local food and of course a good choice of excellent real beer to savour.
