We wandered into this restaurant on our first night in Thun--on a day that began the night before in New York. In other words, we were jet-lagged and famished. Karin and Urs, who run this place, were warm and welcoming, despite our lack of ability in German, French, or any other language spoken in Switzerland. And the food was tasty in an authentically Swiss way. My partner had the brautwurst, deliciously crisped and juicy inside. I ate the roesti, which I'd tried two years earlier in Bern and decided at that time was a too-greasy gut buster. But Urs' roesti is much lighter, with creamy potatoes perfectly crisped. Yum. Traditional hotel located in the very centre of Thun. 10 min on foot to station. The castle just steps above. Resto, bars, cafes, Aare-River-side and wooden bridge very close by. Friendly welcome, fast check in. (no elevator.) Got a very clean room 1st floor facing the square. Weekend nites it can get noisy, but sound proof window. Shower and toilett on that floor as well very good maintained. Fast Wifi. Arrival time should be advised as receptopn is not always open. Breakfast can be arranged like a food box with frish items as no hotel breakfast is served. Anyhow plenty cafes with nice setting at the Aare River around.
This is another wonderful Swiss restaurant with lots of wood located in the historic center of Thun. In fact, this is a historic building. It is an organic restaurant with boar, deer and veal, which is what my compadres ordered. I ordered the Mixed Salad, very fresh and tasty. I tried all the meat orders and they were delicious, as well. We shared a Vermicelle with meringue and rahm which is a chestnut desert. Wonderful service throughout. A little pricier than some places, but you get what you pay for. And the food and the atmosphere were marvelous.
We went through this restaurant to eat, and as they spent 3 minutes of 13,30h they removed the board from the menu of the day in front of our noses. only option, a salad and a cold dish of sausages. It was good, but the long faces. Moreover, it was sun on the terrace and it was hot (in Swiss they are not used.)

Stayed in one of the doors with friends, athough you have to use a communal bathroom/toilet. The facilities are clean the location is very good and the staff are very friendly. There is an old world charm about this place which you do t come across any more.
The food was awful. It was the saltiest schnitzel and rösti we've ever had and was basically inedible. We should have guessed that this place isn't great when seeing nobody was sitting in the restaurant. Avoid this place by all means.
Restaurant in traditional Swiss guild building; good selection of traditional Swiss dishes as well as Italian cuisine. What killed the experience for us was the person in charge (owner? not wearing a mask.
