Although I've reviewed La Estancia Gaucha before, I had the pleasure of dining there again yesterday and confirmed it is still the best in Guadalajara. A few weeks before this trip a friend recommended that I try La Vaca Argentina, which has 5 locations in Guadalajara. I took my wife and Mother-In-Law for dinner there on Saturday and we all agreed that quality of the beef (a tough Churrasco) and the service where not up to par. I decided to take them to La Estancia Gaucha yesterday and they enjoyed everything as much as I did. We started with some char-broiled Asparagus Spears with Parmesan (a little dry but delicious) and Empanadas (Crab and Picadillo) which are always excellent. The main course was my default Churrasco Estancia (18 oz) and both my wife and Mother-In-Law ordered the small Churrasco (12 oz). We ordered it cooked "Al Punto", which is the approximate equivalent of Medium in the US. All Three steaks were juicy, tender and full of flavor, with just the right amount of marbling. We arrived around 2:20 pm and by 2:45 the restaurant was full and had a waiting list (they are open from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sundays). Even though the restaurant was full, the service was excellent and our waiter made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered a Banana Pie (homemade) for dessert that was delicious, not too sweet and not too rich. After dinner we each had a snifter of Cuervo Reserva de la Familia, one of the finest Tequilas made accompanied by the house "Sangrita", again homemade and in my opinion the best in Mexico. If you're in Guadalajara and love a good steak, La Estancia Gaucha is a must. Just ask any local, they'll tell you!

Went here with my wife for my birthday and could not have wished for a better experience. It should be noted upfront that we met in Guadalajara more than 30 years ago when I lived and worked there for more than two years. We used to live in an area called Jardines del Bosque, on walking distance from La Estancia. So, I have been to La Estancia many times but had not been there for more than 15 years since we don't visit Guadalajara that often. We were very excited to be back. It had been renovated and enlarged with a separate room for smokers (which, incidentally, has better aircon than the rest of the place). It is a large restaurant with ample distance between tables for privacy. It is a favorite hangout for business people - think a typical 2-hour Mexican lunch that is used to build relationships rather than discuss business. Anyway, we started with a selection of empanadas (they offer 4-5 different types) complemented by their home-made salsas. Pick any - the fillings are juicy and delicious. I then continued with the 500 gram (1.2 pounds) "Churrasco," a perfectly grilled piece of meat simply served with lettuce and marinated onion. Simple and delicious (but I could not finish it). My wife had a more traditional Mexican "Sabana de Filete."The service is attentive and impeccable. The place is perfect for business meetings but also nice for family occasions. They open at 1 pm each day (tells you something about lunch time in Mexico). If you have no reservation, plan on arriving before 2 pm, after that it gets really crowded. At 3 pm, it is full, every day. We got there at 1:45 pm and lunched for 3 (!) hours. We finished off with a "postre" (dessert) on the house since it was my birthday, espresso, Don Pedro (Mexican brandy) for me, and Chinchon (anise liquor) for my wife. Well, we didn't want to leave so we had two digestive top-of-the-shelf tequilas too (añejo, i.e. tequila matured the longest). All told, this restaurant is better than ever, and when you combine the quality and taste of the food, the service, ambiance, and modest prices, you will have one of the best experiences you can ever wish for. This is a must-eat place when in Guadalajara!

We dropped in for a quick lunch before the Mother's Day crowd arrived. The service was quick and friendly with lots of helpful advice. We started with Empanadas, followed by Grilled Provalone on flour tortillas. For mains we ordered different cuts of beef - all done to perfection. We finished with the signature banana pie and coffees. I will go back one evening for dinner to experience the restaurant and ambiance at night. Highly recommended

You have to have a "cuadro" here. It's the specialty and its not in the menu. It will be one of the bests steaks in your life. The place is a classic! Very good!

My colleague is a regular traveller to Guadalajara, and this is his regular haunt. He went twice on just this last trip.We split the large prime steak. It was extremely flavorful, and easily left us content with an option for dessert. He recommend we order Medium Well, I'm normally a Medium Rare guy ... and I'm glad he did, because it came back Medium rare.It is worth noting, this is a regular sit down restaurant, and not the style where you order the meat off of the stick as they walk around the room.

I've been coming here for years and it's always fantastic! Incredible cuts of meat and great salads too! Service is lovely as well. Definitely recommend this place especially for meat lovers!

We found this restaurant because it is right outside our hotel, NH Collection. What a great find. We had an amazing lunch. We each started two two empanadas. One of us had the breaded steak and the other had a ribeye. Each was delicious and each came with a simple green salad nicely dressed. This and a cold Stella made this this a great way to start our weekend in GDL. It was go good we are going back for dinner tonight.
