"Mr. May, As a follow-up to our conversation, below is my mailing info for the replacement gift certificate for any restaurant BUT Charcuterie. I noted your restaurant is not on the Better Business Bureau (no surprise so I will need to file a complaint for a new business. Also, I have spoken to the desk officer at Sierra Madre PD, and will follow up to file a formal report. Bottom line – that would be enough for me, but my wife is outraged. She was humiliated by your son, on the patio, in front of other patrons. Your son intentionally inflicted a degree of emotional distress on her, while she was caring for your 20 month old son, out of spite, fear and cowardice. Recall, your son failed to have the intestinal fortitude to approach me himself and alert me he was calling the police. Instead he mumbled under his breath that, even if I did contact you about this, you would not be interested in anything I had to say. Your son went so far as to come over to my table and remover the comment card, telling me I was no longer welcome and would not be coming back. Something to the effect that he doesn’t need customers like me. Fine. Did I mention that when I went to the outside patio to make a cell call (which I consider the polite thing to do he instructed his staff to throw away my meal – they completely cleaned of my table, in plain site of our stroller, backpack, purse, and other items. These are just some of the reasons that my wife is adamant that I file a lawsuit against your restaurant and your son individually. I won’t bore you with the more innocuous service complaint we have – they all pale as a result of this. There is something not right about him – something downright frightening. To opt for the nuclear remedy because a customer complains the food took too long (specifically because there is a toddler waiting! is irresponsible, unstable, and likely a statutory violation. Did I mention he was mimicking me to his kitchen staff? My wife overheard him when she was in the restroom. What is wrong with him? Its one thing to be a coward, but the vindictiveness in where he socializes the cost of his own inadequacy issues, making the community at large pay when he calls the local police and falsely reports an incident. The police responded with three units, presumably under the belief there was a fight or the like occurring and personal safety was at issue. Does he think the local police are pawns in his juvenile game, “running” a restaurant? There is no question this incident impacted my role with Project Cuddle, and will likely have implications with Disney’s role once my wife reports this incident. I honestly believe the community needs to be warned/alerted/notified of the risks they assume if and when they enter your establishment. As a citizen, parent, and friend of law enforcement, I can’t have a clear conscience allowing another potential victim to enter this den of deceit not knowing of this incident. Please let me know how you intend to proceed. Spoiler alert – lunch alone is not satisfactory remediation. You don’t throw a family with a toddler out of a restaurant, after telling everyone within earshot about the problem customer, and then lie by claiming the customer called the police; and make up for it with lunch. Slander, intentional infliction of emotional distress, conversion, negligence, filing a false police report, and general premises liability all come to mind. Your thoughts are welcomed. SG"
