"In the Christmas season, honey and I like to make city trips. This year we chose Ulm. How many times have we already passed this town on the A7 when traveling to the south, the top of the Ulmer Münster is seen and we are doing so, we have to go. And so it happened that we booked a two-day trip with an overnight stay at Hotel Maritim at the bus company of our trust. We were accompanied by a sister of my wife and her husband on the two days. The bus driver drove us to the city centre of Ulmer to the tourist bus parking lot. While we took a city tour on foot with the other bus guests, our luggage was delivered to Hotel Maritim for one night. Since we were only able to check in there from 3 pm, we visited the Christmas market in front of the Ulmer Münster after the 1-hour interesting tour. Beautiful sunny but cold weather let us take a hot mulled wine first before, after a payment of 5 euros, we took the 768 steps to the top of the church tower. View to 100 levels View to 300 levels After we arrived up, we had a real sense of happiness that we had managed this loosely at our age. The descent was also easy. We managed to walk along the Danube and then we went on the way to the hotel. At check-in we wanted to book a table for 7 p.m. in the restaurant Panorama, which is open from Monday to Saturday from 6 pm to 11 pm. Unfortunately we were told that the restaurant was booked for the whole evening. Shame! So what left us? We decided to go to the fishermen's district in the evening, maybe 1500 meters walk. With the city tour in the early afternoon, we were already able to see some of the restaurants thanks to God and had a certain idea where we could come. Unfortunately, around 7 p.m., the restaurants that were gradually planned were still equipped with some empty tables, but we were told everywhere that all tables are already reserved. We came by the wild man. When looking at the menu in the outskirts, we were told by an outside smoking guest that you can eat very well here. All right, get in the good room. Previously, some narrow staircases have to rise until the right side of the restaurant has been bent. Service 3.5* Here we were kindly greeted by a female service and expressed our desire for a table for four people. Unfortunately everything is reserved here too. But you can take a seat in the next room, was their alternative. She accompanied us into the guest-free room. Luckily, we finally got under, we decided for a corner table. She waited until we pulled out our jackets, hooked on the wall and put us on the table. We got her menus in her hand, and she went to the main room. After a short time, our drinks were accepted. The ladies ordered a Pinot Grigio (0,2 l, 4,90 € , my brother-in-law a bright yeast wheat (Paulan, 0.5 l, 3,90 , for me a natural beer of the Kaiser brewery (0,4 l, from the barrel, 3,40 € . The ordered drinks were served quickly and properly cooled. At the same time, our food requests were accepted. The dishes were served at the same time as mine, after a reasonable waiting period by another female service. I had to wait for my dish longer until I got it served. It was repeatedly asked whether it tastes and whether we are satisfied. After dinner, the empty plates were quickly cleared. Meanwhile, the next room had filled with other guests so that we had to wait a while after our payment request, until we had a correct cash bonus in the hand. We were kind of passed. There is nothing to complain about the service. Eat 2.5* Bread to Salad Sweetheart chose the goat cheese plate on Rucola with Balsamicodressing, and there was slightly roasted bread in the basket (12.90 €). Our two companions chose the Cordon bleu from the pig, approx. 300 g with Steakhouse Pommes (13.50 €). The portions were quite large, meat and fries were neat, tasty okay, but now nothing world moving. They were fed, that was the main thing. The ketchup, which was added to it in a small bowl, could have been even self-made from taste. Cordon Bleu from the pig Now to my food: My choice fell on the dish of the day, namely barbary duck breast with red cabbage and roast potatoes and red wine sauce (23.90). The duck breast was wanted by me medium. It took a while to get the duck breast served, and the three others were almost ready with their food. From left to right, the components were quite rustic on the plate clapped before me. On the left the red herb, it was probably cooked a little too long, but not too soft. Tastefully tasted. On the right side lay the pale and also soft roast potatoes. Speck and onions in it nevertheless ensured that they were edible without complaint. Overall, I would have wished them much darker fried. Barbarie Entenbrust Now to the main actor on the plate. In the middle between red cabbage and roast potatoes, I immediately checked whether it was really medium. Optically, the duck breast for me looked like Aldi's freezer. She was cut into five slices. The first and last disk, i.e. the edges, were as far away from medium as Ulm from our hometown. It's supposed to be dry and hard to chew. The middle slices were ripped out as slightly medium, and together with the red wine sauce I felt something like taste in my mouth. Overall, however, it still looks edible and so was still filled. Since I hadn't eaten completely, the operation asked when the plates were cleared if something was wrong. My answer was: I've eaten better. When assessing all four foods, I can't stop to give the food only the average grade 2.5. Ambiente 3* Well, the small wooden tables in the next room didn't seem inviting now, but were okay. It would have been nicer in the main restaurant. In the next room it was quite gloomy and also the room temperature was very low. Cleanliness 3.5* Just like it's all about getting nothing striking. Tables, cutlery, glasses, plates, all clean. To the toilets you had to go down a few steps from the corridor. The rinsing boxes for the session were held on the wall with adhesive tapes. The urinals in the men's convent were already very old and should be renewed calmly. That's why I have to keep a few points on cleanliness. Conclusion: The guests present had guaranteed a cut of 30 years less than we had on the hump. If I have looked at their website before writing my Rezi, I can imagine that this is a nice event location for this age group. My overall impression: 2.5 – hardly again, if we were to come back to Ulm, we would logically prefer other restaurants. (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – if it arises, again, 4 – happy again, 5 – absolutely again"
