A Man and His Monkey

We had Israeli Shakshuka and Hommus plate with lamb, and it was 10 out of 10! The hommus is very fresh and rich and they make it on spot, served with freshly baked divine pita bread. Shakshuka sauce is just right a bit spicy, rich tomato and capsicum sauce. Coffee rating for coffee snobs (like us) 10 out of 10! The cafe itself has cool paintings on the wall, has a charming character and is quiet and cosy. Definitely will be back many more times.

Once upon a time Sydney was home to a diverse supply of independent cafes. These days they are few and far between. It was a great surprise to discover The Man and His Monkey. The food was excellent and unusual. The Black Rice Porridge was a revelation! The coffee was of course also excellent and the atmosphere and the unique style of the café was one that will make you want to come back for more. A great little local café well worth the visit.

Coffee is fantastic, barista is lovely and polite. Cannot say so much about the weight staff, today he wouldn’t even look at me while he was serving me and I had to ask twice for what the total was before he paid attention, in my experience it seemed a lot like homophobia. If you want coffee without the service then come here.

Gorgeous little cafe that had quite a variety of appealing choices on the menu. Service was really nice and an overall lovely experience. Would definitely return.

Wonderful surprise delivery from deliveroo! Israeli Shakshuka with Bacon and egg Panini. Succulent and delicious. A wonderful start to the day. Thank you.
