Abbotts Hotel Waterloo

After a delicious visit to the kitchen of the Aeolian island Lipari and a few stops at trendy spots in the Redfern-Waterloo area, my son and I were craving a good, traditional pub for the rest of the evening. Abbotts Hotel, located conveniently on the corner opposite the subway station, fit the bill perfectly. While we didn't try any of the food that others have raved about, the beer was just right and the local atmosphere was spot on. We chatted with the attentive staff and soaked in the authentic vibe of a pub that has been around for decades. There were some modern touches, but the spirit of the old six o'clock swill was still present in the tiled walls. I had been to Abbotts a few years...

I am thrilled to have a restaurant like this in the area, but there were a few quirks. The opening times were odd and not as advertised, it seemed like the staff were drinking on the job, and the portions of fish were a bit small. I hope they address these issues because we would love to continue dining here.

Would have to be the best $15 steak in Sydney , that drops to $10 on Wednesday as they have a daily $10 special .They have a huge range of quality sauces also , not just a dodgy cheap bottle of tomato sauce like most...pubs . They also still have $4 schooners at happy hour .

the area of redfern and waterloo is a mixed area and this pub gives them the taste of the area.... there was the beer 12 different species and quite cheap. the meal looked good, although we had eaten, it would eat there next time....big aussie aroma Reserva una mesa ahora

The portions at this restaurant are very small! Although the fish and chips were delicious, the sizes were tiny and the prices were high. I don't see this place staying in business unless they start serving larger portions at lower prices.

good pub food and great prices, drinks same, most affordable in the area, great vibe, we have made this our weekly choice of venue for get-togethers. Thanks to Phil for the best intro to any pub ever in our lives

practical small corner pub, which is a hit with native. great bar and very good ruffle. it is worth stopping for a drink and a fast meal .. pleasant staff and paragliding are friendly

Very friendly staff, nice old pub with an ellipse shaped bar, lots of locals cheering at the sport on TV. Happy hour prices great $5 schooners). Hope it doesn't change too much! Reserva una mesa ahora

large lambskin. prizes for alcohol. fantastic live music. pleasant personal and good security, although there is rarely a real problem. only a great local pub.

Some oldschool pubs, like this, are cool. Even has an anti-hipster poster which is cool. Not a huge been selection, but a couple of good ones on tap.
