Food was excellent. Had the Shrimp Tacos (these were our faves), gnocchi (very tasty, although rich, and carmelized onions were a bit overpowering), truffle frites (awesome frites! Just a tad too salty towards the bottom of the pail), french toast burger trio (I loved this, however my wife found the pork a little chewy for the burger) and a small sample of the tahini cheesecake with date molasses (quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had at a restaurant). We did not partake in any drinks, as we found the cocktails a little pricey, although there looked to be good pricing on beer/ciders. When trying a new restaurant, I prefer water anyway to keep the palate as uncompromised as possible...

Location is excellent in downtown Halifax, but if you live outside the peninsula, you have a hard time to find parking. Layout and decorations, I like the decorations inside, it is romantic and cozy. I also liked the terrace outside. This part is? Cleanliness, staff keeps the tables and dining area clean, cleaning is accessible. Time to sit, our experience that we found many seats. Time to serve reasonable staff and service: it was ok time to get the food, I felt it took a long time as expected. Food to be honest, the Calamari was excellent the main course was not enough. Good food. The pork belly on a steamed bun was awesome. Singapore noodles were bland. Blue cheese duck confit was delicious, and the fish fritter was pretty good. Tasty mezze board but overpriced for what you get- very tiny portions of dips and no meat (which is fine but we thought was overpriced). Also, small pours on the wine. Nice ambiance, good service, great selection of rich dishes.

The atmosphere was great, they have a large terrace, and it is really nice inside. Eating was quite solid the truffle friars slap, but then again I never had bad truffle friries. The burger was kind of dry and thin, but the blows were good. Presentation went hard, had never served a burger on a piece of slate before.

We went to aFrite for a New Year's Eve menu. It was a great casual venue for an informal evening, followed by watching the fireworks at the Halifax Oval. This is our second time at aFrite and we will return to finish tasting the interesting items on the regular menu.

Nice atmosphere. A few vegetarian options but not many vegan options and very little preparation on behalf of the staff to have suggestions ready ahead of time-despite noting 1 omni and 1 vegan guest in our reservation. Small venue but good layout.

Activated for the brunch menu. We had the French toast and breakfast. Both met expectations, and we were full plates. The staff was dedicated and helpful. Will definitely look at another visit. Portion sizes were normal.

Chef Andrew went above and beyond to meet my dietary needs (vegan). The food was absolutely incredible, the service very welcoming, and great ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in a heartbeat.

What a great place. Small and cozy. A rotating menu. We had something that was just added to the menu today. Chicken Sharma dumplings. Very dish (and we had a few) was excellent. Our family will be back.

Always a great experience at A Frite. One of my favourite places.
