My wife and I used to go here for date nights and special occasions, and we really enjoyed the Italian cuisine. Now we have kids, and it's much harder to do. It's a little pricey for the quality, but the ambiance makes up for it. Al Dente really strives to be a top tier Italian restaurant with an impressive menu, but the food isn't quite there. There is no dish I've had that I'd call a favorite or remarkable, but they have all been good, just not great. Overall, I've had much better Italian meals in NYC for cheaper, but I can't name a better date night Italian food place in my local area. My only real criticism besides the price is that sometimes the waitstaff can be a little to friendly. So...
This place is amazing! Every single thing is great! I don’t know what anyone is talking about with it being “dirty” or the staff being “rude”. Clearly whoever said negative things about this place has no experience around a restaurant business or in the industry. From atmosphere to the decor, words can not describe our satisfaction (both my wife and I). The individuals continually asked if our food was good, we found any issues or there was anything more they could do to make our experience better. The quality, quantity, service and atmosphere were all unmatched! I’m speechless and will definitely be coming back for years to come!
The food was ok, nothing special. My friend had a seafood pasta dish and there was no seafood in it. But the most disappointing part of my experience was the service. There was not enough help and the two waitresses that were on were harried, rushed and down right rude at times. With so many other restaurant options out there I would not recomend this restaurant. Unless you enjoy getting yelled at by your server.
I love this place, the food and wine is really the main event and both have always been exceptional on each of my three visits. The decor and music is brilliantly camp. It seems some other reviewers don't want to listen to the godfather theme tune in an Italian restaurant in Jersey, it's not classy... I am not one of them. It's like walking into a living stereotype, which I love so its getting 5 stars.

The food and presentation was outstanding and delicious. The only thing I would add is the non alcoholic drinks should be in a larger glass and refills should be free because glasses are small in size and they charge for a second serving. It is only iced tea.

Service, food and ambience were all great except the air was freezing, that's the only thing that wasn't enjoyable.
Phenomenal food, excellent service, incredible selection. It's a must for anyone who eats!
