I think the Alamo Palace Chinese Restaurant is maybe a 3.5 for it's food and service. I didn't want to rate it a 3 so I rounded up to 4 stars. The food and service is fine. I met a friend for lunch who only eats Chinese food so we have been trying different Chinese restaurants in Danville, Alamo and San Ramon. I had the string bean and beef lunch special that comes with sweet and sour soup, fried won ton skin, fried egg roll and rice that I upgraded to fried rice for an additional .50; you can upgrade to chow mein for 1.50 in lieu of rice. First time we went there during lunch the food was really excellent second time we went for dinner and it must have been a different cook because the beef in two of the dishes was dry and hard/overcooked like they were fried ahead of time then added in later the other two dishes were just ok the chicken was also too hard and no flavor plus 3 dishes were lukewarm oh well service is excellent though booths are comfy but they need to vacuum the dust balls on the carpet
I tried this restaurant for the first time and ordered takeout: hot and sour soup for myself and BBQ pork chow mein for my husband. Unfortunately, the soup was extremely sweet, almost as if corn syrup had been added, and it had a rancid smell and taste. I ended up throwing it away. The chow mein was slightly better, but it was still not great. I won’t be returning.
Consistently excellent. The food is always fresh and delicious. Their lunch specials offer fantastic value, such as Sweet and Sour Prawns with rice, appetizers, and a fortune cookie for just $12.45. The service is consistently efficient and friendly. I highly recommend this place for authentic Chinese cuisine. They also offer plenty of take-out options.

Honestly, I've had better Chinese food but only in San Francisco Chinatown. For the East Bay, this is my favorite place. I appreciate the quiet dining room, conducive to conversation. Service is always unobtrusive and professional. Food is very good. Never had anything I wouldn't happily order again.
Beware food very bland she brought me a can of soda full of dirt on lid and was rude when ask to clean. Ugh food not good... Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
My wife told me she'd heard good reviews of Alamo Palace. I took two friends there for lunch and it was mediocre. Food okay but ambiance is pretty sad.
