I 'd originally made reservations for dinner at six o 'clock, but I was so exhausted from walking around the city all day that I arrived at 5:15pm and asked if I could eat earlier. No problem, and I was whisked to a seat at the bar where I could watch the bartender at his métier. Everyone was very kind when I requested to speak French instead of English (they switched back and forth effortlessly . I had a dozen super delicious oysters with a shallot mignonnette, then an exquisite beef tartare, which unfortunately I simply couldn 't finish. I had made a reservation, but at the arrival, realized it was for the next Sunday night. nicholas, who welcomed me, could kindly impress me into the restaurant. I had come in the happy hour and the oysters were on special, until from my understanding albacore is known for big parts, so he only hit one appetizer or head out of the two that I had asked what I appreciated. I ended up with the recommended item and it was paired with big drinks. after reading the reviews, I realized that albacore is not always available through reservations and walk-ins. with my mistake on the reservation, I am very grateful that it could have been added this day and it did not happen all the time thanks, albacor...
an absolute must be when they are in the auto distance of quebec city. we found them on Sunday and enjoyed exquisite dishes. the mortadello app and the corn-chowder with perfect healed were the best of the best aromes I have experienced. we returned tonight (Wednesday,) more than exquisite dishes. fresh nowa scotia oysters, fish dumplings in a complex broth with mushrooms, and monks with kissen soft gnocchi and vegetables. every bite of seafood is cooked to perfection! we will be back in quebec city to enjoy the fast friendly service, the wonderful wine selection and the menu that the cook creates. merci beacoup albacore.

I had made a reservation for the wrong day, but Nicholas was kind enough to accommodate me as the restaurant had just opened. I arrived during happy hour and the oysters were on special until 6:00 pm. Nicholas suggested I choose either an appetizer or main course from the options I was considering, as Albacore is known for its generous portions. I followed his recommendation and enjoyed a delicious meal paired with great drinks. I learned that Albacore is usually fully booked, so I was grateful for the opportunity to dine there that day despite my mistake. Thank you, Albacore and Nicholas!
The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly and took the time to answer all of our questions, despite the fact that we didn't speak French. The outdoor seating offered stunning views of the city. The portions of food were generous and innovative. We had a variety of dishes including oysters, tacos, burrata, calamari, cod with gnocchi, and all of them were delicious. The drinks were also well balanced. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely try to visit again before we leave.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Quebec. Don't expect fancy decor, as they focus on the quality of the food instead. They offer great wine pairing options with your meal, and I highly recommend following their suggestions. I recently revisited Albacore and can confirm that the passion is still evident in every dish.
