Even though we live close to an Amami Sushi, we always prefer to take the 40+ minute drive to this location. It can be hit or miss when it comes to getting a table (lesson learned), so we always make a reservation just in case. We once had a terrible experience sitting next to a loud group of men and women who treated the place like their living room, so we always opt for bar seating here. Plus, nothing beats having a TV right in front of you or watching the chefs prepare sushi. Most of the time, we go for their oyster shots (or the oyster special, which comes on a spoon), the omakase, o-toro, and seared toro with uni, although we like to mix things up. The parking lot fills up quickly depen...

The sushi was fantastic as usual, with each piece fresh and melting in my mouth, showcasing an excellent ratio of rice to fish. Their nigiri never disappoints, and the rock'n roll roll had a nice bite thanks to the eel. However, I found their special roll, the melt-in-your-mouth roll, to be just okay. Although it was very tender and did indeed melt in your mouth, the flavors didn’t meld together well due to an overload of ingredients. As for service, I would give it a 4/5. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring quick service. In terms of value, I would rate it 5/5. Most sushi entrees are in the mid to high $20s range, while the beef teriyaki entrée was $18. Each entrée included miso...

This was my first time going to the original Amami sushi and I was very pleased. It's a bit smaller than the one in South SF so I can definitely see it being busier at peak times. I came for dinner on a Thursday and my party of 4 was seated right away. Service was fast and efficient. We got the sushi deluxe as well as the chirashi. All the fish was very fresh. Also want to note that the bathroom was EXTREMELY CLEAN, like hotel/resort level clean. Not sure if it was just cleaned but reading other reviews seems like a norm. Just something to mention since I don't see this as often at other restaurants

Passed by and had Amami Sushi in my bookmarks. I was able to try it on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy with people and to go orders. The lover boat was indeed a lot of fish and looks nice. But again quality is lacking. The Philadelphia roll was mainly cream cheese. The sliced ginger was old and fairly dry. I'd say if you want cheap-ish and not so great quality but big pieces of fish then try Amami. The service was good and you get a lot of food. But the quality is lacking. They have multiple food and health violations . They have a small parking lot and street parking Reserva una mesa ahora

I recently enjoyed one of the best sushi meals I've had in a long time. Don't be fooled by the quaint, cozy atmosphere; the sushi and sashimi here are exceptional. The hamachi kama was a generous portion, warm, and full of flavor ($12.50). The medium sashimi ($40) was worth every penny, as it was not only a great portion but also incredibly tender and fresh. I also tried the seared chu toro with uni from the specials board ($15), which was perfectly seared and fresh. The service was very attentive, and I will definitely be returning regularly.

I used to really enjoy this restaurant because they offered fresh fish at a reasonable price, but I've noticed a decline in quality over the years. On two occasions, we had to wait an hour for our food because they focused more on takeout orders than on diners at the tables. If you're still interested in Amami, I would recommend checking out their nearby location, as it provides quicker service and better quality food.

I had an incredible experience with their takeout! The omakase is a fantastic deal at just $40. The variety is excellent, and the quality is top-notch—I'd happily eat it every day if I could! They also offer sake and other appetizers to complement your special meal, so don't miss out on this treat! Plus, the staff is super friendly!

Suggest making a reservation before coming. Otherwise be ready to wait 1.5hrs for seating. Sushis were fresh and tasty. Not fishy unlike some other sushi restaurants. I let my pictures do the talking. Enjoy! Reserva una mesa ahora
